what kind of guns do you shoot with?

I saw that you said you only have a primer and basecoat gun, do you shoot clear coat with the base coat gun as well?

Just the roof, and some of the doors. The car was originally repainted by a friend of mine who is a professional refinisher.

I wish I had a compressor at home, as I own a gun and have the skill. I just have nowhere to apply the paint.

This thread is really getting me stoked. I got hit in the parking lot and am going to have a check coming to sort my car out. I'd love to use that money to buy the equipment and do it myself.

How big of a compressor do you need?
What features should one look for in a gun?
Are three separate guns for primer basecoat and clearcoat all necessary?
Need to rent a fender roller in Socal? PM me.

^^^ i use a 40 gallon compressor and have no issues at all. as for guns I would look at a gravity feed gun. Alot easier to work with but a lil more expensive. I have alot of guns but thats just be I accumulate them but there is no need for 3 seperate guns. yes it makes it easier but you still have to clean them all out. I use one gun for all steps. Just clean inbetween each step and ull be good.

Practice, practice, practice..its the only way ull get good. start on small things around the garage. Thats how i did it...

i mashed 2 e28's together to make 1, painted it black with rustolium regular old gloss black, the lkind of stuff you paint a metal fence with. sure as hell beat flat black sorry about the pic quality this was in about 2004 when nice digi cameras where more money then the car. i once had what people thought was a slammed e28......

LOL I just did this to one of my winter wheels this afternoon...

I've painted a few other things, but nothing like full cars. Painting is fun.
