Well I had to retire my HREs again, they're bent, out of round, and (thank god) the right front tire is pretty messed up. All this time I thought that wheel shimmy was caused by the wheel, but it's actually a HUGE bubble between the sidewall and tread of the tire.. like the bead broke in the rubber, it's super squishy and definitely could have blown at any second.
So I'm going to get a new tire, hopefully through warranty, and send the 2 front wheels back to HRE to get widened. My plan all along was to put my 9" rears up front, and go a lot bigger in the back. I wanted to go 10.5", but I'm going to play it safe and do 10" I'm very happy with the fitment up front with a 225/35. It will be perfect when I add camber.
By the way, I didn't take the jack out for the pictures, the car would have dropped another 1/2" or so if I would have. Anyway here are the 9s up front.
nice

very nice

here's the tire. I put about 600 city miles on it since 'the incident' - my buddy was driving the car home from the bar because I was definitely in DUI territory. I hadn't been driving hard because I had 5mm extended lugs on 10mm spacers. He ripped the car pretty hard around a corner, enough that the rear wheel was rubbing hard against the fender, and hit the biggest pothole in my neighborhood. It felt like the control arm popping out when it happened, but it was actually 3 of the lugs breaking off inside the hub. Well, 2 broke off and the other 1 sheered out in the hub. the car made it home and i figured it was a nasty pothole, but the tire didn't pop and my friend didn't notice any vibrations in the mile drive home.
the next morning i was driving him and his gf home, and immediately noticed changes happening as i was driving. the steering wheel started shimmying INTENSELY, the kind of intense where eventually the wheel is wobbling so badly that it's hitting the front right fender once every rotation. i made it about a half mile before i turned back and limped the car home, after discovering that i only had two 5mm extended lug bolts holding a $1500 wheel on a 10mm spacer of my car. i fixed all that right away... never noticed this though when i had the wheel off, it was definitely getting worse and worse until yesterday.

the whole lightly colored area is super soft, rubbery tire

and here she is on m68s and 5mm spacers, drives like a dream
brakes clear by 1-2mm
