  • Project "Midnight Oil" aka The Slaggin' Wagn'

Well I have been lurking around daily for quite some time now and after a week of midnights transforming the car from stock to this I figured I would introduce myself and get some opinions on my little soot machine...

My name is Jack, "Jack Hammer" to some, and this is my daily driven 2002 Jetta Wagon TDI. I bought it about a month ago, swearing I wouldn't modifiy it, and in the week prior to H2Oi (4-5 nights of at least 2am) I did the full 20th anniversary GTI front nose swap, Votex side skirts, skid plate, tune, racepipe/egr delete, stereo, interior mods, B&G coilovers, Sawblades, etc.

I know it looks like it needs more low, but she scrapes skid plate, thankfully doesn't rub wheel well at all, and yes I think I put the Sawblades off quite nicely

congratulations on bringing together so quickly but if you're not trying to go lower you're gonna need bigger wheels or something to close up that large gap. besides sawblades are just not cuttin the cake anymore man.

Yeah, well air ride and BBS RS's on a MKIV is straight "Run Of The Mill" anymore and I **** it. The skid plate is just an inch above the ground, the gap looks far better in different shots/angles, and I had the "Blades" and the adapters to make them ride without rubbing and still poke a whisker, so ran them. However... Rotiforms are on the list

But then again... she made others top 50 -> http://www.greasyblocks.com/2010/09/...th2o/#more-622

              And Sawblades aren't?

Looks good man, what size tire are you running? Maybe a slightly larger tire would help, but then again it's hard to tell from that angle.

                step 1: ditch skidplate

                step2: drop more

                step3: admire

In my opinion, sawblades aren't as much as RS's and need to be staggered and used correctly. I am running a 205, 40 R17 in the front and a 215, 40 R17 in the rear with 33mm adapters in the front and 28mm out back.

LOL, I'd be admiring it from undernieth while on jackstands and replacing the oil pan. Besides, it would be; 1. Ditch the saving grace of the dieselgeek skid plate (yes my isch is diesel and therefore heavy up front), 2. Remove front swaybar completely, 3. Drop more, 4. Admire, 5. Fix all the damage from daily driving it on the awesome roads of New York (where the hell do all my tax dollars go?)

your skid plate does nothing but reduce clearance. in the event of a pan crushing bump do you think that flimsy piece of sheet metal will do anything?

seconds, lower it. wheel gap never looks good. im from ny and ride 3/8ths in. off the street. you dont need to be that low but it wouldn't hurt

thirds, id have RS's 150x before sawblades.

                        lots potential though.

Hey kids, this isn't vortex...stop arguing. If you **** his car then don't post. Let him do what he wants. Going real low on nice wheels may not be his thing as it is mine and many others.

Really cool car! At a glance I thought it was a four-door golf then I looked closer (of course the title made more sense).
