  • canadian e30 BBS/bodywork build !

brought a bmw 318is 1991 back in october and thats where it all started. Previous owner was a mechanician that worked at a local bmw/porsche shop. The car was well taking care of but was in need of TLC on the body work since the paint used was a single stage by bmw. It was going to pink instead of staying brillantrot.

    Specs
    325is m20 engine swap
    Schrick 288 cam
    4,10 dif
    all urethane bushings
    2,5 inchs exhaust
    Catless
    Dynomax muffler.
    Bilstein hd shocks
    Bavauto springs.

Imported from california so haven't seen Québec winters. Stored in a heated garage. Didn't had much rust spots so i was happy about that but the paint was toasted ! And on the project we goes.

On october 29, 2009, i was going to work and got stuck in a incident with a woman driver that didn't do his stop sign. Last owner gave me a lot of spare parts including fenders, bumpers and all so i got the checks from insurance and rebuild the car with it lol since i had many parts already. Good things in a bad situation !

When i brought the car, it had meshes looking wheels on it but i didn't know that i had rm012 and rm001 on it. I started rebuilding them 2-3 days after the crash. The plan was to do 15x8 and 15x9, Ordered from tunershop 2x 2" lip, 2 x 2,5" lip

I'm a fan for gold wheels so i repainted the centers subaru sti bbs gold code gk1.

All my lights were broke so i got some used euro smileys and new fogs lights.

After that, its was time to do work !
damn rust spot on the roof

antenna wasn't working so off it goes

didn't like the oem spoiler and so got another trunk.

Hood was spraypainted by previous owner to hide some defects.

Meanwhile, i needed parts to fix the crash. Found one local with a broken engine for 200 bucks.

    lol

    here goes the front

needed to sandblast it since rust was going through the valence.

    some steps from the bodywork

    fender rolling

    small pull

    Its primer time !

    reinstallation of the front

removed doors since rust was going through the door sealant.

sandblasted doors and inside the hood.

Brought some single stage paint to redo all the door jams and trunk and hood.

sold the bilstein and bavauto springs and got BC racing coilovers. Welded the front and installed the rear. Really easy if you have the tools to do it.

Ajusted the ride height and i was going to paint the car by myself the next day.

some shots of it strapped in the trailer going to the body shop.

    next day was the day.

    base coat

    clear

    reinstalling everything part one

    need to be reinstalled lol

meanwhile, i've painted all the trims with sem black flexible coating.

i dont have full shots of it yet but its in the works

    thanks all
