i think about shit like this all day long, but i have yet to save and go for it. its totally do able depending on available funds and what you're looking for. id love to go for an e30 or s13/s14 build. i have a problem with saving, simply because i like clothing way too much. im glad i clicked on this thread, i just got a jolt of motivation through my system lol.

^I looked for a yugo but didn't find any local or even any on ebaymotors at the time. I think dealing local would be a good way to keep cost to a minimum so it just depends what I find when I'm ready to pull the trigger. Good call on the older z's, lot's of potential for those! My problem is that of all the cars on my list, I keep going back to finding an e34 wagon even if it stretches the budget a little. I've just always loved those ever since I had an '89 525i with the m20 (sohc)

Im still looking myself. This site has lots of that to offer.

If you look here you will find some great ideas. I actually added a Yugo to the list. Those things are dirt cheap on CL and you can find a few good looking ones here,... assuming its gunna be a daily driver project.

Might also wanna add a early to mid 70's Z car to that list. You can find plenty of those on CL and the good part is that most of the rusted body panels end up getting replaced for stylish aftermarket anyway. Or swapped between other model Z's and years.

i know it isnt physically larger. Just the most efficient of that motor series (correct me if im wrong please).

Hopefully after the swap ill be pushing 240 HP, ill get a dyno run of my current set up, then a dyno run after the swap, then a last dyno run after i chip it.

tytyty for clearing that up. Really that helped.

Yeah i cant wait to do it, for only 400 bucks for everything i need?? hell yeah ill take that extra power. Shit i prolly have 140 HP rite now lol.......20+ year old car with 180 stock, i think 140 sounds about rite.

This isnt the thread for it, but if anyone wants to take a second and explain LSD and the ratios and what they arebest for that would help me tuns.

the big six is not out of e30s. e30's came with the m20, the "little six"; or the m10/m40/m42 i4. the m30 is considered the "big six". the e28 came mainly with m20's (528e) and m30's (533i, 535i, 535is). but also a m10 (euro-only) and diesel m21. the existing m30 is a m30b34. your plan calls for a m30b35. so a slightly bigger six.

you will go from roughly 180hp to 210hp. wheeeee.

I got mine for 1000 bucks.

    87 535is was automatic.

So far, swapped it to manual.
swapped out most of the front end suspension, some back.
Custom Phase 5 cold air intake (Thanks Ken!!)
New sparkplug cords, distributer + cap
all the maintenance like spark plugs yadda yadda
Putting in a new heater core this weekend.
Put a 7 series 750's break setup on it.
Through some 7 series rims wrapped in michelins

On the way is a 'Big Six' engine swap. Finishing the suspension (25mm, 19mm front n real Dinan sway bars), looking for some coilover set but i dont know much about that shit so i gatta research a little.

here she is.....outside of the car is too dirty.....just look at the inside for now

so far ive spent under 600 bucks including purchase price. trying to find cool oldschool stuff on the 'list is hard tho. like 4x114.3 wheels for example lol.
budget builds are tons of fun tho, dont have to be super fussy about things like paintjobs or million dollar wheels.
Do you have a build thread? link to pics?

Awesome build, love what you did with it, but I honestly liked it better with the original paint and 2-tone wheels.
