Golf MK3 16V - The Bottomless Moneypit

If you're going for form over function (The clever, sensible idea ) I think it would only be right to smack some banging coilovers on it...

I ran KW V1's on my Polo, they're amazing. On a car like this they would be so much better suited!

Hmmmmmm, that sure sounds tempting haha, I still kinda want to build this on a budget but I can already see myself forgetting that and pouring all of my money into it

First kinda stance update so far,

Bought some spacers to fill the horrendous arch gap,

25mm on the rears and 15mm on the fronts. The fronts have just arrived today but I fit the rears on Monday and I'm happy with the look. Theres no poke so don't get excited, but I like how it sits and I think if I wind the coilovers down for 30mm drop it should look pretty decent.

Now just waiting for a day this weekend where I can spare a few minutes to get up to the car and fit the front spacers, I've also bought replacement GTI arches so they will be going on, and new VW centre caps for the alloys (exciting eh? hahahaha). After that, next stop is a new exhaust (which my father has offered to buy me ) and then brakes and new coilovers

Sooooooooo, my front spacers arrived,

15mm - Fit them the other day and also put my arches back on again, I'm getting her ready for MOT in June so after then I should be going low

It was after I fit the other side that I realised that my alignment and tracking was out by a colossal amount. Like, my front wheels aren't just out, they're in different postcodes

Anyways, I got worked up and decided to fit the arches on to make myself feel better hahaha

I DID A THING!!

So, I finally bit the bullet and lowered the car, and changed the Exhaust up for a Jetex with a de-cat...

40mm on the front
45mm on the rear

The fitment isn't great but I'm not changing it until my wheels arrive...

Oh yeah, I bought wheels, . I'm not giving anything away other than they're 8J, 16" and they're 5 x 130 fitment

Headlights also got properly colour coded, which I think looks 10,000 x better!







Wheels are gonna be with me in 15 minutes, I'm very much excited hahahaha

They're all in varying degrees of being stripped, need new tyres but I can use the Proxes fitted to my Montreals which means lots of stretch

I'm undecided on what colour I want to spray them so I'm open to ideas if anybody wants to give me one? I'm kinda swaying towards gunmetal grey though...

Yas, really like D90 on Mk3!

I'm gonna go with dark metal grey or black

first of all: you really need a paint polish.

i think you shouldn't just go with grey. dark colors are really hard to get right/to match right..
here are some colors i'm suggesting:

satin gold


one of these: metallic Bronze or satin Black (hard to know if satin Black goes right with the black of the golf)


idk what this color is called but i think it would be dope on the gullideckel. (guessing it's something like metallic gunmetal. still thinking it's hard to guess if they will go right)


but if you want to go with gunmetal grey, go for matte gunmetal gray..

Hey guys, thanks for all your support and comments etc so far, just thought I'd let you know that updates will be coming soon

MOT is booked in for Tuesday, hope she passes, then I've got tracking etc to sort, but I've got a few other mods in the pipeline

Sooooooo! She passed her MOT with flying colours and is now on the road. I haven't really done much to her in the last week or so except from I managed to score a black set of pillars from a Colour Concept edition, so they went in, I've also replaced my side trims for Colour Concept ones too. Tracking was done, unfortunately I had to lift the bugger by 15mm all round so he could get the tracking jig onto the wheels :/.

Lastly, I got bored with some Aluminium tape from work and did my front "16V" badge in silver. I think its an improvement.

So guys, sorry I've not really posted yet, I haven't had much time to put into the car as I've been saving for a new daily. Just scored a PD130 MK4 Estate pretty cheap which I'm picking up tomorrow. Once I've changed the wheels and done a few jobs on it, it'll be time to start work on the MK3 again.
