Hello everyone! This is my first build thread on StanceWorks and I am very excited to share the story of me and my best friend Lowla. She's a 1987 Toyota Supra P-Type, Factory Two-Tone Blue (Rare color from what I've been told). This will be complete, starting at day one and updating as much as possible. If you dislike Supra's, or dislike 1UZ swaps, then this thread isn't for you
Our Journey begin's Early 2014, I was a Jr in high school and my passion for classic Toyota's was growing. I was looking for something new to build and Its always been a dream of mine to own a Supra, I personally was never too big of a fan of the MK4 Supra that most people dream of, for me it was all about sharp body lines, and that's something the MK4 did not produce.
I searched the internet constantly and I stumbled across a few MK3 Supra's, most didn't really fit in budget. Then one day I found Lowla, she was perfect to me and right in budget, I immediately sent my father a text saying "I think i found the one", my father replied "oh great here we go again, we'll talk when we get home", we sat and talked for a few hours where I begged him to let me bring another broken car home to sit in his driveway, my dad being the great guy he is let me do it. So we went that week to go take a look...
Boy was she rough! she lived out in Apple Valley, CA (AKA The desert) and she had a blown head gasket (Typical for the 7M engine) and also had the clear coat chipping off, she was covered in rock chips and the interior definitely showed its age. My dad being the critic he is was pretty hesitant letting me buy this pile of junk but I think he could see the excitement and passion in my eyes. So he gave me the green light and boom! I owned my very 1st Toyota Supra!

As soon as I got her home I gave her a well needed bath and most importantly, a game plan. The next day I began the tear down process. This being the first time I had ever touched a 7M learned that they are a very oddly designed motor, things were very tightly packed and bolts were tucked away to spots almost impossible to get to, but after three days of tearing her apart I finally got the head off. The headgasket was very much blown. cylinders 6,3,2 were absolutely FLOODED. I then took the rest of the week to clean everything I had removed and make sure the engine was also clean. then after a VERY long day and all new gaskets for the top end, she was finally ready to start. so I fired her up at 2AM in my driveway and began jumping in joy. It felt like at that moment I finally owned the car. Since then I drove the car every day to school for about three months...

Then I lost her again... One day driving home I saw a pretty good looking chick in a slammed G37 sitting at a red light, and me being the show off I am, I revved her up and dropped the clutch, flying into the intersection sideways, halfway through the intersection it sat on rev limiter for three seconds then BANG a huge explosion went off under the car. Me trying to play it off put it back into first and pulled into the next parking lot. Once the girl drove past I raced to pop the hood and see the damage, but there was none. the car was running fine and it would move under its own power. There were no leaks and no trace of what the loud bang was. So i drove it home and put it on Jack stands. Then I saw the problem...

The loud bang that sounded like a 12-gauge going off under me was my clutch, a chunk of the cheap Chinese clutch broke of and somehow blew a massive hole in the bell-housing. That same day I worked all night until the motor and trans were pulled.

Just like that, my baby was gone. Stuck, back on Jackstands in my parents driveway... I was heartbroken and couldn't believe I was right back to square one. I let her sit. and almost a year went by until i decided I was tired of her sitting there. So, I came up with a plan...what if i could build a bad ass drag supra? What if I put a LS1 in it and did a sweet cage and suspension set up? Me being dumb thought that was a perfect idea. so i gutted it and got it ready to undergo surgery at a friends shop. I took the next few months to start saving and get ready for the build, but then it was time we moved... So i put Lowla on hold and sent her too my grandmas house to wait for what I had expected to be only a few months...

She ended up sitting there for the next Year and a half...
So now I have decided its time to bring my best friend and favorite car back, I have had so many friends and family members ask me when I was going to bring her back, They all new exactly how much I loved that car, they knew how many hours I spent tinkering with it.
Now I am finally ready to bring her back home and get her put back together, I ditched the plan of trying to make it a 10 second Drag car and get real, There is no way i can afford to do that...so I decided I'm going to take it one step at a time.. Just doing whatever feels right...The exact concept I followed into buying the car...All I know is that I will be putting my 1UZ in it matched with my W58. ( I know alot of people dislike the 1UZ/W58 combo, but for me it works and we will see just how long she lasts
) I also do plan on getting her nice and low with some baller wheels (The stock sawblades gotta go!)
I'm really excited to get this car put back together and will update this thread as much as possible. I'm hoping to get some time off after Christmas and bring her home.. Here's a few beauty shots from the short time I had her out on the road.
