  • E36 Touring Tidy Up.

So, I put a picture in my Coupe build thread that I have acquired a touring and it was mentioned that I should create a thread for it.

Link for the Coupe build below:
    http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/sh...he-e36-Revival

It isn't really a build its more of a tidy up, a rescue mission to save it from the grave. This will never (hopefully) get as in depth as the work that's gone into the coupe!!!

A friend of mine messaged me asking if I wanted a touring, yeah I wouldn't mind a touring. I don't need another car, nor was I looking for one.
Shortly after my friend arrived and he had said touring.

go on then so I bought it as it was stupid cheap.

She does need some TLC that's for sure.

I have only had it a couple of days and I am sorry for the piss poor photo quality I will try and get better photos next time for you guys!!

So as you can see from the photos the bumper is pretty much non existent, I have got a new one off eBay it was fairly local and in the correct colour. Its only an SE bumper but I would like to keep this in mostly SE form rather than going M sport bumpers etc etc.

The wing mirror was missing on the drivers side so that was replaced, again another eBay bargain.

This was the gear knob in the car and quite frankly its terrible.

Thankfully I had a spare one in relatively good condition that came out of the coupe.

Plan is to just clean up the car really and make it more presentable.
    • Fit new bumper
    • Polished (non black) kidney grills
    • Wider side bump strips
    • LUX side skirts
    • New passenger front door (rotted and dented)
    • New tailgate (rotted)
    • Misc interior bits such as gaiters and floor matts
    • Coilovers
    • 17" Wheels
    • Basic maintenance

haha believe me, it will never be a show car!!

got about 10 minutes to work on the car this morning before i had to rush out.

First things first i replaced the bonnet badge as the one on the car was non existent.

I also started to fit the new front bumper. the one that was on the car was cut in half and well, fucked.
I picked a new one up on eBay, it was local and only ten pounds.

Not properly fitted as of yet but you get the idea, i will finish this tomorrow once i have more time. And i am going to try and do some work to the coupe too!!

I really really want to try and find a Racing Dynamics front lip to go on this bumper!

Also, found someone local who is going to swap these terrible black grills for stock polished ones and i want to put some fog lights in there but waiting to find a bargain set come up online.

Sorry that its nothing brilliant but this car is and forever will be a shit box. i did take it for a drive yesterday though for the first time and it did drive like a champ, there was a little wobble coming from the front end but the bushes are a known breaking point on these so will get them replaced along with the lower arms when i fit coilovers. also it really needs to have its tracking done.

haha this will never be a show car or anything of high quality, thats what the coupe is for. this is just a bit of fun to tidy up and beat around in. I don't want it to be a show car, i think that will take away from the fun aspect of having a shitty car.

the biggest lie a car enthusiasts told himself

"I won't do anything to this car" - whoops, some coils appeared - damn, coils without rims look shitty - WHOOPS, some dope rims appeared - shit, now I have to roll / widen these fenders - new paint - ...

and so the story goes, haha

everytime one of my friend says "I will keep this simple" once they've bought a new car I start laughing and WHOOPS, they go full retarded

but to be honest I would enjoy a "shitty" car for myself, just to drive around in winter.. i also have to get a new daily..

nah, believe me it will never get to that level. If i am honest i am enjoying doing this on a budget and trying not to spend much at all on it. i think thats part of the fun hunting down bargains.

I fitted the bumper properly this morning and lined it up better.

Quite happy with it but it does need fog lights and the standard silver kidney grills. I am on the look out for a front bumper lip for it also in the new year i will get some budget coilovers, Merle lower arms and lollipop bushes.

I found a leather shift boot in the garage, the current one has a rip in it. This one isn't great but it was better than the one that was in there and it was in the garage so cost me nothing.

Also, i had this wooden gear stick in the garage too and thought i would put it on to see if i preferred it to the leather one as the leather one has the M sport logo and i am trying to keep this away from being a M sport replica. I want to embrace its poverty spec.

This actually came in my very first BMW and I've always kept hold of it. I prefer it to the leather and its just aswell because i can't get it off now May try and find a wooden nardi wheel to match.
