  • Xtreme Blazer on BBS

Been reading up on here for a while since S10f and Custom GM are ghost towns anymore. Figured I would start a build thread for some constructive criticism/ideas.

Here's what it looks like now

Still waiting on parts from the paint booth. Mainly just the hood, tailgate and rear bumper cover. The rest of the body kit is at my house, waiting to go on after the truck gets aligned.

My first set of real wheels, 18x8/9" BBS Style 42s. Refinished in silver with a polished lip and factory hardware. Might be going with bigger adapters if I decide to tear into the body for a wider look.

Only thing I don't like about them is they don't make BBS center caps in 68mm so unfortunately I have to run the cheap eBay caps. Plan is to convert to three piece wheels this winter.

Suspension setup right now is tubular control arms with drop spindles, coilovers and tall ball joints in the front. The rear is belltech leafs, JTR blocks, setback plates and driveline alignment. Total drop of 7" in front and 7.5" rear. Corvette brakes in the front and stock brakes in the rear.

The interior was all pieced together using factory gm parts except for the steering wheel and shift knob. They were done by now defunct Driftwood Steering Wheels, don't use them if they come back up, their products are shit.

So yeah, so far that's what I've gotten into with this thing. Used to look like this until I repainted it and converted to real wheels. I wish I could've kept the black but the paint was god awful and it had rusted through the corners something awful.

And here is what it looked like when I bought it.

Ive only had it a few years at this point and I plan on keeping it for a while more. Future plans are to convert the wheels to three piece 19's this winter, a four link-coilover setup in the rear with a much bigger notch but keep from cutting into the floor. I also have a 4.3 with 50g miles on it I plan on building for a Wynjammer supercharger build, wire tuck and engine bay shave and repaint.

Anyways, here's one of my many projects let me know what ya think or any criticism. Thanks!

I've been following you on instagram for a while. Definitely one of the coolest 2nd gen blazers out there. You're in Kentucky too, aren't you?

This is actually pretty slick. I'd say go back to the black, tho. It looks fireeeee w/ the BBS style wheels.

how are you running the bbs wheels without adapters? i assume they are 5x120 but ive heard its not a good idea to run that on our trucks even though it is only .65 difference or whatever

The plan is to eventually go back to black but I've always wanted to take a crack at flat paint and I absolutely love this blue. If my old paint was anywhere near saving I would have but it was 3 or 4 shades of black, bad spider webbing and rust through the cab corners on both side.

Not running without adapters. My current specs (not too happy with it if I'm being honest) are 18x8 +20 with 1" Adapter and 18x9 + 24 with 1.5" adapter. Thinking about going to 1.5" adapter in front and 2" in rear eventually or I may just tough it out with shit fitment until I convert this winter. Thinking 19x9 and 19x10 setup.

That being said, if you happen to find a set of Bmw wheels or any 5x120 wheel that will fit an s-series without offset issues, I think its safe to run them as long as you are running acorn nuts. We are talking about less than 2 hairs of a difference. I used to think there was a difference until I put one of my faces on the truck. Fits like a glove.

But if you do need a way to correct the offset, which you probably will, I say just play it safe and go ahead and get the 5x4.75 to 5x120 adapter. It only makes sense since you need to fix the offset anyways.

Well you said you wanted ideas, here are a couple:

Isuzu Hombre front end swap. I think it would look sick. Of course, you'd want to Photoshop it first to make sure, might be a little awkward, IDK.

As far as paint, tangerine orange. It fits s10s really well, I'd assume it fits a Blazer well, too.

Of course, it's your truck. Just thinking out loud. Either way, I'm down to see what comes out of this.

Cool, man. I live a bit south of Lexington and i'm going to school at UK. Not too close, but maybe when this thing is done i'll see it around sometime. Planning on taking it to any shows around here?

An Isuzu front end would take a lot of work to get working properly with the Xtreme front valence and the only thing I really like of the Isuzu front end is the hood. I wouldn't mind doing it but it def has to be modified to clear the top portion of the s10 grill.

Also the truck isn't even 100% assembled from the paint job it just got lol If I paint it again it will be repainted black lol. Not trying to be an ass by shooting down your ideas and I hope it doesn't come across that way.

                    out of this.
                    No need for photoshop.

Yeah. Not my style and I cant really picture a build where it would actually look good.

Hey, it's your truck, I'm certainly not triggered by you shooting down my ideas. If I wanted to see an orange Blazer with an Isuzu front end that bad I'd build one myself, lol. I was just giving some food for though. IDK what you do as long as you keep on truckin'

I used to LOVE tangerine orange when I was around 16, have a bunch of tang orange s10 pictures saved on an old computer somewhere. Still a great colour. Ah the memories.

To be quite honest i'm not really sure what you could get a blazer into. There was a blazer at import alliance in Sparta last year, but it was probably the only chevy there haha. And i'm sure you could get into southern roots. I missed the first southern roots show this year, but it seems to be pretty good. I go to a lot of euro shows, though, and they tend to be really shitty about admitting anything but euro cars.

Well the blazer is done. I plan on hitting up some shows this weekend. Just a local spring festival and cars and coffee.

still missing the rear hitch so the bumper cover looks a little odd in this picture but yeah.
