I needed a new daily since VW is buying my TDI back in a couple of weeks. I looked at e28s, Miatas, e30s, e46s, WRXs, mid 80s Benzes, etc. Pretty much any sort of halfway interesting vehicle that I could think of. Nothing really grabbed my attention, and I didn't want a project since that would take funds away from finishing ODB.
Welp, the no project rule went straight out the damn window thanks to Igor at CA Tuned.
He and I were talking about different cars he had for sale when he made the mistake of telling me he had a 1973 C10. 307 V8, 3 speed manual on the floor. New clutch and new exhaust too. At a price I really couldn't say no to.

First up was taking care of the brakes. Because even though the truck has discs up front, it had un-boosted manual brakes. Trying to slow it down on the mountain pass between Sacramento and LA was terrifying. Thankfully, Classic Performance Products is here in SoCal, so after a quick call and a couple of bucks, the truck got a new master cylinder and vacuum booster.

The interior really needed some help, because the stock bench was completely shot.

Found a guy in the high desert that was selling a stock bench for cheap. Not in the greatest shape, but it'll do for now. No longer sitting on duct tape is nice.

Finally, the carb on this thing sucked. Took forever to get started and would not hold an idle worth a damn.

Hard to see, but the fast idle cam wasn't connected, so the choke wasn't working how it should. It was also dirty as hell inside once I took it apart. Found another, cleaner carb for cheap, got a rebuild kit, and presto.

That's more or less where I'm at with it now. Fun thing to bomb around in. Next up is getting a radio into it. Then new shocks, a rear axle flip kit and hangers, and front spindles and springs. Hope to have it lowered 5.5" front and 7" rear soon over some wide 15" steelies. Eventually I'll switch the transmission over to either a T5 or a 700R4, and do some sort of upgrades to the engine.
And yes, I'm still building ODB and my Triumph Bonneville because I'm dumb and can't leave anything alone.
