is this the tail combo you're talking of? ebay tail with stock housing?

So i painted 1 of my RH wheels today, the color is awsome! i will post a better picture later in sunlight when all 4 is painted.

It's just plastic. All it does is actually keeping the leaking oil from falling on the ground.

No these are different tails altogether, really nice ones in fact. The main difference besides the obvious OEM quality is that the OEM Benz tails are slotted and the Ebay tails have a flat face. If I remember correct these tails were offered on late model w124's and diesel w124's in the US, can't speak for the other countries. EDIT: I think they are just different ebay tails lmao, they look like these 94-95's

they are perhaps difficult to find
