So I started off with a stock EK (5 speed, HX, so economy version, with the D16y5 eco-vtec motor)
[IMG][/IMG]
The car had 116k miles, all original, just was keyed pretty bad from previous owner but I didn't really care because i knew i wanted a fast car and not a pretty car. The car always ran kind of funny, and i never was sure why. It ran and i was happy with that while I started saving for a B series swap. I got inpatient and just wanted to make it a little cooler, so i bought a turbo kit off CX racing, ebay junk.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
So after I installed the kit and got over some electrical issues, I took it out for a test drive on the base map i got from HAMotorsports. The car was running fine besides a slight hesitation when I would initially start to go from a stop. I really only wanted to make ~200HP and I was content. I brought the car home from getting lunch/test driving the same day it was finished. I went to start the car and it would crank but not start. I really had no idea why. It was getting spark and fuel, then I noticed the cam shaft wasn't turning. I assumed I broke the cam since that was my luck. The car ran for about 4 hours. So i decided not to do a B swap and go Vitara pistons/Eagle rods/Stock sleeves. The cam gear actually was just stripped by the way. Previous owner left it a little loose. Oh well too late.
[IMG][/IMG]
And I also got a fresh D16y8 head and block. My buddy sold me his Holset 50 bucks and after a 50 dollar amazon rebuild it was mint.
[IMG][/IMG]
So this was the second build
Head:
D16y8
Brian Crower Stage 2 cam
Brian Crower springs and retainers
Stock valves
Stock port
AEM cam gear
Block:
D16y8 stock sleeve block
D16z6 Crank (better oiling properties)
D16y8 shimmed oil pump
ARP head studs
Eagle rods
Vitara stock bore pistons
ACL race main and journal bearings
Everything else:
CX Racing intercooler
JHP USA Traction bar
Progress Racing Coilovers
Holset HX35
Stock intake/TB
1000cc Bosch Injectors
GO-Autoworks Catch Can
Turbo XS RFL BOV
Hondata s300
VMS Racing fuel rail
Competition Stage 4 6 puck clutch/Ebay flywheel

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
So then we took it to the track after it was tuned to 20PSI making 312HP/244WTQ. It ran 11.93 @ 116MPH right off the trailer, full weight. That race was against a nitrous K swapped EK hatch who wanted to race a single cam because they are slow.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
And finally, the rebuild. A CNC head is being built, with oversize valves, and full Rocket Motorsports valve train and stage 5 cam. It is going in for a 10 point cage with a window net very soon. It will still be a 1.6 liter single cam, but will be sleeved and hopefully make 700 on a BorgWarner s362. The parts I have so far are...
