  • old thirsty boat aka W210 E280

    Hi there,

let me reintroduce me on here. Already made a thread at the newbie section, but i guess everyone comes for the build section (me included). So my Name is Johannes, i'm 30 and i'm from southern Germany. I'm not new to the whole Stance/Fitment Thing but new on here.
I build a couple of cars, some properly, some less properly.
Now to the current project, i've always wanted a W210, i know they're not beautiful by any meaning, but something about them made me want one for long.

So in August this one popped up for cheap not far away, mainly because TÜV (technical inspection) was due and this Chassis is not know for passing it easily (*cough*rust*cough*) But this one was well taken care of, so it was pretty mint for it's age and milage (1997 and 360k km's wich equals 225k miles)
it never saw snow for the past 10 years and he loved this car.
All i had to do, was replace two blubs and throw in new brake discs and pads up front.
Then it passed TÜV without any problems.

So after passing TÜV i had to do something about the old ugly preface taillights and swapped them for facelift ones, thought about avantgarde ones, because their indicator is darker, but i thought it would make the car to dark. At the same time i ordered some cheap coilovers, but didn't have the drive to fit them, mainly because i had no wheels to go with it. So i drove this sucker for the past few months completely stock. And actually enjoyed it.

After a few months of driving carefree it decided to s*** itself and started leaking coolant, badly...

and if that wasn't enough, it also started leaking oil, so i need to get this stuff fixed soon.

So today was the day i got me some motivation, bought some cheap 19" BBS Reps and they don't look bad on it. Needs some spacers and lowering, but then it's good to go! And of course a good wash.

Yeah i know replicas are bad, but i won't throw $$$'s at it, because it would be more than the car itself. It should be a cheap low budget build to have fun with. Haven't decided on the tire size yet, the current ones are blank 225's up front and 255's in the back, would like skinnier tires, i'm open to suggestions.

    What are the next steps:
    - Fit the Coilovers
    - Get some Facelift sideskirds
    - get a Facelift rear bumper and mold the lower section on a Preface one
    - Find a cheap Brabus front lip or build something myself
    - i'd love straight pipes on the rear section
    - maybe end up buying so legit multi piece wheels.

Feel free to comment whether you like it or not!

So not much happened, still gathering parts to fight all those leaks. Then it should be good for another 210k miles.

I thought i share some of my "stance" history. I owned a couple more cars, but some of them died during building due to rust or they where not worth to mod it at all.

My first proper build happened around 2009/2010, wich was a 1990 S13 hatch.

had some wide Weds, all the lows and a running CA18.

At some point i was tired of it and was looking at miatas. At the End of 2010 i bought a jap import Eunos Roadster and it all started over. Ran on MS PNP and ITB's.

Then i had some regrets selling the S13 and wanted to build a Type X Replica. But due to Rust i had to break it. And got me an IS200.

Except of lows and a loud exhaust i didn't do much, but really loved this car. But it died in an accident.
After a short flirt with an SC400 i went to the germans and got me an E36 325i. What a piece of crap. Fun to drive, but not my cup of tea. Swapped it for a Cuore/Mira.

After the Mira/Cuore i had to get an IS200 again, because i really liked the old one. But this time i wanted to do it nice and clean.

Had to sell this one in 2015 due to failure at technical inspection. Had some normal cars the time after, mostly because i haven't had time for my hobby, because i got a son.
The Benz is not a build like the S13 or Miata, but i want it to be nice and clean.
