        which kind of brings it up to date.

        Got the rest of the interior back, ordered up a new headliner then started to strip the sealant out of the inside (I'll sound deaden the entire car)

        Got 2 days off work this week and don't have to get anything done on the house (just started doing it up) so getting a couple of full days spent on the 50. I'll keep the thread updated.

                What a wicked thread man, thanks for sharing this on here. Love a resto project and it's great to see such a rare car, I've only seen about 2 of these in my life so hopefully I'll be able to catch it at some shows in the coming year.

                I can already see you walking away with trophies haha

                Also I've got the 1.4 16v engine you mentioned, great engine but not as high reving as I expected it to be but im sure it would work wonders in a car as light as the 50

                    Cheer pal, I actually bought an AFH but after a lot of debating I got rid thinking I should use something a little more unique / powerful. Current plan is to copy the old Bickel engines. I'll use a g40 block with a Ko3 Turbo (which will need to sit above the gearbox). The only issue is the g40 head is so fucking ugly!!! Either way it should be a fun little engine and with g40 front brakes, uprated ARB and new steering wheel (thinking about having a custom Renown one made) it should be an awesome little car to drive.

                    Bickel engine;

                          Bit more progress now that Christmas is out the way, family has gone and presents have been paid for!

                          Always knew that the car needed sound deadening so last year a mate hooked me up with a bulk pack from Vibe Audio. First up was to strip all of the old fibrous matting out of the car floor and roof;

                          This wasn't hard, but I went through an entire caramel wheel doing it and made the car look like it had dandruff!!

                          Anyway, after I got rid of all that I started to lay the sound deadening, rolling it all out as flat as possible. As it came in rolls you couldn't do much about the creases in it.

                          Basically done everything apart from the boot floor. As I want this to be a bit of a restomod I don't want any sound deadening to be visible anywhere. The boot only has a thin bit of carpet in it so you would constantly see the silver showing through.

                          Also finally got the car back on 4 wheels so we can wheel it round a bit easier. It was a proper milestone but looking into the bay it really highlighted how shit the steering rack looked against the fresh paint;

                          So, next weekend I'll be taking that back out, stripping it, replacing the rubber boot and respraying it. No point doing half a job!

                          The strut caps look shit too but they're being changed when I fit the coilovers.
