Made a parts run to cali Monday and picked up a majority of the aero for the car. The guys at DTM Fiberwerkz make some quality parts, much nicer than some of the bigger brands. I picked up LB style flares, carbon side splitters, carbon front splitter, carbon trunk lip, and a carbon full replacement roof(first in the states)

I left everything wrapped in foam to keep it protected, but pulled out the dash because i couldnt resist

Clean and simple with a nice weave

I also stopped by extreme dimensions and got some cheap shit aero. Front m3 fenders which are such bad quality i cant even try using them, some random e92 polyurethane bumper, and a carbon roof wing.

So now all thats left for aero on the car is m3 plastic side skirts, and oem m3 front bumper. As well as oem steel fenders.

I was supposed to recieve my motor parts from RHS/Comp yesterday but when I went to the shipping hub, FEDEX lost the crate and had no idea where they were. They luckily found them in Tuscon AZ and I got them today. This shipment included my RHS block, RHS 291cc heads, front cover, rockers, cam chain set. I wanted to make a run to Havasu to drop all the stuff off with Ben at EFIU yesterday but that didnt work so ill do it next week

James also sent me some progress pics of the car, it was kinda scary when i opened the first pic:

And first test fit of the LFC's:

    He said they fit perfectly

James is also working on mounting my wilwood pedals with a machined fixture so they can be moved slightly

Monday i'm making a run down to check on the car and bring some more parts. He's mounted the quickchange, and will be working on getting the wisefab on as well as fuel cell mounting so stay tuned!

Dude, Holy crap again. Every time I see an update in this thread I wipe the drool up from my lip and say Holy F**king Crap. That first pic kinda tripped me out but everything seems to be coming together awesome. Mind explaining the differences between the two pan/pumps? They look almost identical does the one on the left have the ability to push more oil or is it stronger?

the stages refer to how many points the scavenge pump is pulling oil from, therefore having even more control over the oil. More control, more rpm. Thats a very basic explination.

Blake, any more info on that 11k rpm motor setup? that sounds like a good read.

yeah the 6th stage in Bens pan is used to draw additional vacuum on his motor due to the rpm he plans to spin it. As far as what he's doing to make that motor possible, i jnow he mentioned a ton of work to be done in the valvetrain(basically everything custom), and for my motor he asked about if i wanted to do a custom billet Winberg crank, and if i did we could have the main bearin journals made extra small (1.80" vs 2.25" i believe is regular LS) in order to use Honda IRL bearnigs from their indycar program. The smaller diameter would make the bearing speed less, and thus more reliable for high RPM.

I was expecting a similar reply lol id imagine everything custom to withstand that kinda rpm. Its diffucult to get them to live at 9500 with all the shelf stuff. Whats the reasoning for the high rpm? just chasing super efficeincy in a limited displacement class of some sort?

Sorry to derail from your thread a bit. I intend to build a ls for 9-9500 rev limit later this year and that 11k build intrigues me. Cant wait to see how yours comes out either!

11K sounds nuts but if made reliable I could only imagine it would be insane to drive whatever beast this ben has. Thanks for the info Blake.

Last week we went down to EFI University to drop off the engine parts, and 18fab check on the e92. James carried out work on the rear tubing of the car which I am happy with, and mounted the quickchange which I am not happy with. The radiator is also mounted in the car now along with placement for the dual Optima Batteries.

                      This RHS Block is awesome

And the Dailey Engineering pan is rad as well. A true work of art.

The main structure for the rear of the car is 90% completed

And the tray for the dual battery mounts

The subframe has been completed, and the work to it looks nice but it is unusable. Where the diff is mounted, it places the case about 1" from the ground. I have gotten approval from FD to cut the trunk floor to raise it due to the orientation of the chassis.

We also mocked up a motor with my trans, height is good but a brace on the firewall needs to be clearanced to get it as far back as I'd like.

Due to some other circumstances, I feel its in my best interest to part ways with 18Fab. The work James and his team have carried out on my car is nice, but it has become clear that the deadline will not be met if the car remains there. The plan is to pick the car up next tuesday and finish it myself.

Its a shame to hear they wouldn't finish by the deadline the fab work they have done so far looks fantastic.

But when it is a hard deadline you need to do what you need to do, what is the completion date you are aiming for?(sorry if it was mentioned earlier)

This build make me smile every time I see it bumped up on the forum cause I know I'm in for some wild fabrication work

Good to see updates, also good to see 18fab got a lot of heavy work done for you but I have heard about those dudes taking their time. Always good to see progress and It will probably feel awesome once you finished building your pro car yourself unlike a lot of the drivers out there! In for more.
