  • Nick's B6 4motion

So I started a build on here for my '02 Passat but that died because I had to come back school in Austin and had to leave the car at home. Towards the end of summer I sold my truck and picked up another Passat. I was pretty picky when it came to buying. I didn't want another B5 or B5.5, and I didn't really want a B6 because my sister drives an '08 2.0T. But after a ton of looking around and seeing cars that were worn out or beaten up, I finally found a B6 that I liked for sale in Austin. The only reason I decided to settle on another B6 was because this one was a 3.6 4motion in Graphite Blue . My dad use to have a MKV R32, so I knew this would be like a bigger version of that. For the most part I was right because this car is just as fun to drive. It also had a ton of factory add ons, like bixenon headlamps and a dynaudio system, which was a big plus. I was able to pick it up for relatively cheap which was good for me because I was had a tight budget. Got it right at 130000 miles.

I was really pumped when I got it because I was finally in a quick car again. And of course all I could think about is what I should do to it but summer was mainly just taking care of some maintenance.

But then summer ended for me and classes started and yeah college sucks. I haven't had much time to work on it so I've just been doing little things here and there whenever I had time. Nothing big yet just cleaning it up and having some fun with it.

Got some wheels and tires for it... too bad its been stuck in 4x4 mode

Chopped the suitcase resonated for some wookie noises

Then I decided to get some new tips and ditched the rear mufflers for more noisiness because its a vr6 and it sounds good and because why not

The tone is deeper now and and it's pretty loud but not too crazy. I don't mind it and my friends and parents aren't bothered by it either. There is a drone on the highway but what do expect when you want to be loud. I'm happy with the sound but the tips could use some more love. The shop I went to didn't do a very good job of bending the pipes so the tips are a little off. Not too bad but it bothers me when I stare at it from behind.

V much passat love in the fam

But three Passats just wasn't enough so my mom copped a B7 R-line and it's lit

I need to get a pic of the entire driveway filled with Passats it's pretty hilarious

4 spoke steering wheel was too big and bulky so I got a 3 spoke

While the lights were out I threw in some 5000K led bulbs for the parking lights. I had also put in some Philips Diamond Vision halogens in for the fog lights a few weeks back. Both of these match the factory 4300K HIDs surprisingly well.

still need to get some clips that I was missing to make the grill fit better
One of the only really annoying things about this car is that it is missing a bunch of random clips and screws/bolts. I **** having to put stuff in that does't match!

So for now that's all I've got. I'll try to keep posting updates but school is hell right now and exams are taking up most of my time. But I have a lot planned for this car over the next few months, so thanksgiving and winter break should bring some pretty big changes
    Until then, stay mobbin'

The did they came with a 3.6 and were tip tronic/ paddle shifters, they are very hard to find.

In europe they have the r36 which is the rline passat wagon 4 motion, they are dope.

The UK has the B6 wagon as 4 motion with 2.0TDI, 3.2FSI and 3.6FSI (R36)

Not all R36's are tiptronic, over here we have them with manual trans aswell. I would assume Europe are on the same boat for B6 as the UK

Yeah now that it's on the car I'm not sure how I feel about it either. I'll keep it for a while and see if it grows on me..

It's really not too hard you just have to have a lot of patience because it takes quite a long time

This is where I got it from:

I was actually really surprised with the quality of the cover, it was honestly perfect and a good deal considering it was only 20 bucks. Took about two weeks to get to me which is pretty fast compared to other things I've ordered from ali express. And yeah first time stitching a steering wheel. The hardest part was definitely around spokes, that's where I messed up. I actually ordered another cover to redo mine because they're so cheap, I figured why not

                      A couple of things...

Got more diamond visions for the static cornering lights

Then went and got some random bits and pieces from the dealer, it's annoying that these all do basically the same thing yet they're all different sizes

So yeah I'm not digging the grill as much as I thought I'd be. Our black b6 has the same grill and it looks much better on that probably because of the color. I can't decide if I want to keep it, go back to stock or paint it. For now I just sprayed the inside black, if I like it I'll probably respray it and the lower grills with a little bit more gloss
IMG_0062 by Nick San Roman, on Flickr

Also I'd like to apologize for the horrible quality of my pictures but my phone camera is all I have access to right now since I'm at my place in Austin for school. Maybe sometime soon I'll get the car cleaned up and take some real pictures. Thats all for now, see ya.
