    My Girl's Mercedes '77 Auto W123 250

    Sup SW,
    Just picked up a '77 Auto W123 250 Merc for my girl - three owner, First owner elderly, second a Cop and third elderly again. So far in good condition. Not bad for a 1k price tag.






    Plan is to do a bit of rust repair (Barely any) spray it black, chrome the fk out of the trims and drop it by 50mm on 16" rims.

    Coming from the Aircooled VW world so I’m looking forward to the challenge. Quite a few "the hell is that?" moments already.


    First day back at mine and i start blacking out the grille - Gonna try and make it look as sleek as possible.


    Picking up some replacement rear springs and struts this weekend that are in better condition for the roadworthy so it can get on the road ASAP it will be time to get it dropped and on the 16" - Still trying to persuade my girl that it needs gold rims.

      Euro headlights (inside plastic pained dark gray) and the dark gray painted grill are the best, easiest visual mods for W123s.

      I think the Centra wheels could look good if they were polished and the car was slammed.

        Been looking at the Euro Lights and not sure if i love them or dislike them (wow can't say h.8?!). Going to grab a set when its back all togeather and see if i dig them or not.

        Decided to throw smaller profile tires on the current wheels, polish them up and take off the center caps. They are really growing on me.





        Didn't even take a week for me to tear it down, hammer out some of the dents and get her in primer. - So much for a slow project.
        As long as everyhting goes alright, It will be on it's way to the booth this weekend so i can shoot the black. I was suprised how straight and no filler was in this car. The fun bit is blocking it all back *Yawn*

          Alright, Most of it is in black - just gotta redo a few panels I royaly screwed up. Been buffing my little heart away.



          Not much else has been going on with it, just gotta get the bushings for the transmission, new window rubbers to get it back on the road and driving

            Nice! how did you paint it? With a gun? Outside or in a booth? panel by panel or whole car in one time?

            just asking because I will have to do it too :-)

                I have a ebay special HVLP gun, Did this one in my carport as it was just going to be a cheap and quick lick of paint on it. I used hardened automotive enamal on it. I removed everything that was easy and sprayed it all at once. Its a lot less hassle getting it over and done with in one sitting rather than spraying panel by panel.

                    A quick lick of paint but a nice long cutting and polishing process!

                    Resprayed the bits i wasn't happy with and its looking awesome after flatting it with 600 pads.
                    Finally started to properly reassemble it over the last few days. starting to look very gangster.

                        I'm really starting to get a little attached to the car! I'm not wanting to give it back to my partner now! Luckily I drive us everywhere

                        Haven't been up to much but making the paint look pretty - Didn't get much done on that either this weekend as a friends birthday turned into a two day drinking binge. As the panels get polished i'm putting all the trims and parts on when i can. I do have to replace pretty much all the trim clips now.

                            Shift Bushings and window rubbers finally arrived! Decided to tackle the shift bushings as i haven't really played with too much mechanicly with the car yet - Really easy fix and it actually shifts and stays into gear.

                            All the upper trims are in, waiting for the lower trim clips to arrive.

                            The window rubber trims were a bitch to get in - ended up using sealant to glue the window into the rubber and then bending the trims back to shape bit by bit. Still a little wavy but nothing a little rubber mallet and patience can't help.




                            Really hoping to have it on the road by the end of the month.
