  • Jack's Golf Build Thread

Hey guys, long time lurker first time ever doing a thread about my car. I’m 20 years old, accounting major at the University of Southern Mississippi. My first car was a MKIV GTI 1.8T, absolutely loved that car, but unfortunately about a year ago I totaled it. I knew I wanted to be back in a VW so I searched and searched and finally settled on a MKVII Golf. Back in June 2016, I purchased a 2016 Golf TSI 5mt, car is as base as it gets, but that is exactly what I wanted. The whole goal for the car was to create ultimate daily driver, that’s very practical, fun to drive, and can be modded to what I want.
I’ll most likely be using this as a picture dump/ adventure thread for the car. Finally have a regular subject to shoot with my dslr so hopefully this thread will be able to document my progression in photography. I have a few long term plans for the car but right now I’m just enjoying the hell out of the car and driving the hell out of it. Future plans include, Ed’s rep headlights, Maxton cup lip, and hopefully find a OEM GTI catback.

    Modlist so far:
    • Full leds inside and taillights (brake/reverse) from deautokey.com
    • ST rear sway bar
    • Super Pro RSB endlinks
    • ST Coilovers
    • Rotiform BLQ 19x8.5 ET35
    • Continental Extremecontact DW XL 235/35/19
    • Vagcom Cable, ecs off, starting vibration off, quad taillights, etc.
    • Auto headlight switch
    • GTI pedal covers
    • DV spacer
    • Euro side mirrors
Here are the only decent photos I have of the car after the wheels and coils were installed, sorry for the snapchat filter…

I purchased some wheel lug caps on the cheap just to hide the ugly stock wheel bolts, when I went to put them on I noticed that on 2 wheels the lugs sat further inside the wheel than the other 2 wheels

3 wheels have the same build date, there are all the same width, oem lugs torqued to spec, I even compared 2 wheel bolts to see if the amount of threads going in on the hub is the same, same all the way around. I emailed Rotiform, but they have yet to get back to me. Car rides and drives fine, weird.

Haven't pulled the wheels off to check if they were produced differently, But the front drive side is a flush bolt wheel, and the passenger side is a recessed bolt wheel, both fitments on either side is the same. 3 of the 4 wheels have the same build date, all of the wheels have the same part numbers on the box. I cant feel anything thing while driving.

Also, just did the fender screw mod to the front fenders. It's amazing how much a 3 or 4mm can make! Also ordered some amazon slip on exhaust tips, they look like the VW ones but way way way cheaper. So for $20 its worth a shot. This weekend ill be claying/waxing the car in preparation for our local cars and coffee on Sunday then Cruisin' the Coast during the next week.
