Down under W111

Hey all. Ive been browsing the forums for a while now but never been very involved so here we go

I recently bought a Mercedes w111 fin tale. Bought her cheep and as usual photos like and found a ton of rust and no carbs so I don't even know if she runs yet haha but that's not a problem I'll worry about that when the day comes.

Basic plans are nice and simple clean her up get her straight and laying on the ground.

There isn't much more to add but some photos I have the interior out so there isnt much to look at yet but I have plenty of questions so anyone with knowledge on these babys or has airbagged one I would love you help.

Alright so here we go

Im not sure how its all going to come out but the pictures explain it all lol.

the bad ass bag that i found in the boot (that took 2 hours to get open because the latch was broken -_-) is going to stay in the boot somwhere i was thinking maybe a custom take cover or somthing alon those lines i havent thougt that far ahead yet haha,



Moving onto the flidstone holes in the floor, At first i thought "far out this is getting expencive" but then i relaised that they are just holes to push the dirt out... Ha i wish. i cleaned up the inside and took all the old sound deadening out and really its not to bad, im looking at both front and back floor pans on the drivers side and a rear passenger pan (no rust just a bit wonkey)



Now i have to ask does anyone know what the silver plate is that someone has screwed to he firewall lol. at first i was crapping my pants thinking there was going to be a massive hole but turns out there is nothing behind it apart from the original sound deading so the only thing i can think of is maybe they wanted to level the floor? (with some of the things i have seen on the car i wouldnt be suprised)



SO last but not least this is the driverside front fender, i pulled her off yesterday and started to sand it back to get ready for the rust repairs ill be starting as soon as i go get some sheet metal



So now i have chewed your ear off there isnt much left to add apart from tomorrow i hoping to go down and get a airbag (Im going to use re5's for the front and re6's for the rear) so i can start mocking up where i want the bags once i pull the front end out next week

I assume that the metal on this car are like a tank. Unlike paper cars today. Am I right?

You are 100% correct, nice and thick and forgiving thank god! i even look at my new car and the metal wants to bend. this thing i could drop the fender from the roof and it wouldn't dent.

Questions!

guys so here we go i have a few questions im hoping someone can answer

First off. this little bad boy, now this could be a dumb question so be nice
what on earth is it? i guessing fuel pump but why would the car have 2 pumps? help regulate bad pressure?


Secondly. does anyone know anything about these remote brake boosters? im looking to clean up the engine bay and having the master and the booster seperate looks stupid. i know ill have to change the pedals and a later model booster ect but im wondering if anyone can give me any more info than that?


and last but not least is i have questions about the heater hoses. I seem to have a heater hose coming out of the thermostat housing then that splits into 2 and goes into the firewall then i have this heater hose as well? is this just a return line? it is much lower than the other ones?



Other than that i have just been disconnecting the engine so it and the front end can come out hopefully next week so i can start building the bag mounts so we can loose some altitude

Small update. I found why she stopped running all those years ago.

So i have been pretty busy and havent had much time to do much but now shes ready for her heart to be removed and some holes filled.

So when the guard came off i did find these little holes.. wasnt what i was hoping for but hey its a "64" so what more can you expect.
