I bought this car from North Carolina and had it shipped to California. It was part of an estate sale that I "happened" to come across. 
I struck a deal after the car and had it shipped to California.
This is the story of what was suppose to be a Mothers Day gift to my wife which ended up just being a gift to our marriage.
Anyway, after dealing with shifty trucking companies and "really" learning how the auto transport system works. The car arrived in San Francisco on a beautiful sunny evening. The hauler drove it off of the transporter and the 450SL touched California asphalt for the first time. It was beautiful!
The color is called Byzantine Gold. It not a very common color. I have seen the Icon Gold on some W108s and the "mustard" yellow on a few R107s. But this seemingly rare color looked amazing and classy. I had a good feeling that I scored big time.
But, it wasn't running very well. Actually, it was running rough. But it was a short drive to my house so my daughter and I jumped in and drove away.
We got it home and the family looked it over. We were all pleased. Me, just a little more pleased than the rest.
