The Reveal... sort of
Alright here she is. I don't have any solo photos of it, but I got some photos of it at Import Alliance. Somehow a friend (AE86) and I managed to get our cars into the spotlight/showcase area of Import Alliance.

As you can tell my car is a monster truck compared to the orange Celica, but he was tucking under his fenders and I'm not trying to be that low. For now the only thing that this car "needs" is a chin spoiler and a rear spoiler. However, I am in the process of making a rear spoiler that I think will look good.
Maybe tomorrow I will make a build post to show everything that has been done. But for now this is it!

Biggest update in a little bit
I know it has been a few months, but nothing has really been going on until now. My custom front coilovers came a couple of weeks ago and I was finally able to put them in. I still have to play around with the ride height, but for now it is pretty even with the rear.

I also got around to finish coating the interior. If you are wondering it is actually bed liner for trucks. I figured this would be the best route for now instead of dealing with stained and ripped 70's carpet.

However today, a very special package arrived. I have been shopping around for a steering wheel for awhile,, but none of the ones I saw really stood out to me. Renown was a company I had heard of, but never checked out. I was looking around their site and found the steering wheel I was looking for.

It is the Renown Monaco Motorsport wheel. Yes I know that the colors on this wheel are from the BMW M series and that you would think this would only go BMW's.

I think the wheel looks fantastic and it is the perfect depth for my driving position settings on my racing seat... yes I said racing seat, but that is for another update.
PS: for the people looking for aftermarket steering wheels for their first gen Celica or any other Toyota older than the AE86, use a hub adapter for an AE86 because it is the same spline (I'm guessing) as all the other older Toyotas.
For reference I used the NRG SRK 120-H hub adapter and a NRG SRK 200 BK quick release.

I've tossed around the idea of 195/45/15's but I would like to see if I could get away with 205/50/15 falken azenis for a beefier look.Originally posted by 190Evan View PostI'd go with 195/45/15's. Some Proxes would do this car a serious justice if you can justify paying that much just to mount them on steelies haha.

Thanks man! Right now I'm shooting with a Sony A6000 and that shoot I used my 50mm f1.8 lens.Originally posted by CDeez5 View PostCelica looking nice! What camera do youshoot with?
Thanks it's been a huge undertaking so farOriginally posted by Greasy63 View PostNice dude, I'm super diggin
Yeah the tires are too big IMO. I'm waiting on my coilovers to be built and shipped to me so I can do my measurements for tires. The steelies are 15x8 0 offset.Originally posted by 190Evan View PostThose tires look huge on their IMO. Are those steelies like 15X8?

Got bored with my camera
No progress was made on the Celica today so I got bored and decided to shoot my other car (1992 Lexus LS400).

I think after I get the Celica up and running and show it off at Import Alliance, I will bag this and hopefully get some wide 18 inch wheels to have a cool and functional daily.
That's it for now!

After a couple of days work, I am finally able to say that I have stripped the whole entire car down to bare metal.

I know there is tan in the front right there, but that will be painted black.

Other than those pieces the whole car has this cool pattern which will look better once buffed and polished.

One upside/downside of stripping your car all the way to metal is seeing all of the previous body work and rust holes your car has. That pile of whatever (grass, dirt, rust etc...) fell out of a rust hole in my door
, but after applying some all metal, it will stop the rust.

Since this is such as messy job, we had to move my dad's hot rod out of the garage. I haven't really messed around shooting this car, but I had a chance to before the sun comes down. I have been trying to get my dad to build this car beyond a boulevard cruiser and into a real hot rod.

I made some progress since the last time I posted on here, but I just sent my front struts off to be converted into coilovers. So while the Celica will be up on jack stands for the next month or so, I plan on fixing little things and removing anything unnecessary. I've already stripped more paint off the car and now it's only down to the hood and the doors.

Before I sent off the struts, I lowered the rear of the car using KYB Camaro shocks and AFCOIL springs. The combo lowered the rear about an 1 1/2 inch, basically enough to give it a nice stance in the rear while still functional.

So here is how the Celica sits in my garage as of now. It's kind of depressing because I really want to drive it, but I can't no matter how hard I tried.

I also tried my hand at sandblasting for the first time and I can tell that I need a stronger compressor for sure. I'm 99.9% sure on the color I am going for with the steelies. Ideally I would like to be running a decent sized set of SSR Longchamps or Work equip03's, but my budget does not allow either of those.

Until my coilovers arrive, I'm going to be working away on the Celica and I'll try to be more active on the site, but I finally caught a break from school so I'm maximizing my time to the best that I can!
