  • Still Haggard

Some of you may remember my haggard Explorer. dropped 4wd on Cobra wheels. Well, as ironic as it is, i found a new car, and now i'll use the Explorer as a winter beater.
So far, just a strut bar. The day after i ordered the bar it decided to start acquiring a drinking problem, and i just changed the intake manifold gasket.

I paid too much, but the interior is mint, the motor isn't in bad shape, and the body is fixable.

Plans are to drop it, get legit exhaust under it, fat wheels, louvers, a chin spoiler, maybe a cowl hood, and shred tires. I want to do this car proper, new lower adjustable control arms, upper adjustable arms, full subframe connectors, front (Raceland...shh) coilovers, and if i get around to it, a 5 lug conversion.

It's a username i've stuck with. I do have a '69 SS that was taken away for shredding a set of 5 year old GT Radials.

I'm horrible at keeping things up to date--I also, don't have pictures because my phone's camera took a shit.

Well, i'll bring some story on this turd...I wish i wouldn't have bought it.

One of the previous owners hit something, so i had to realign most of the front panels, put hood pins in because the hood wouldn't align with the latch, and i needed a new header panel. the front clip was square, so that's the best news.

I owned it for 3 days..and i get the dreaded check oil light. Long story short, bad rings in cylinder 8, that or some how, a bad head. Just the day before, i put in a rear strut bar, and now fast foward, i know the issue, but i don't know how to tackle it..I figure, run it, kill it, get a new 5.0, or LS.. I go buy full length subframe connectors, have them welded in. Now, i've talked with a local machine shop, and i'm in for March, at a max of $3000..I'm terrible at saving money.. Fast forward again, Now, i'm buying heads..I get a call from my dad, i get in contact with this guy, and he used to work for Ford Racing, and there's only 50 of these heads made. For the price, i can't turn them down, they're new, and they're a massive upgrade.

Now, to the Explorer. Any money i can save goes to it to get it back into a daily. Still lowered, but i'm putting the flares on, going through all the wiring i've done in the past, redoing shit if i have to. All that's left is wiring for my 2wd toggle, rear spacers, the door flare panels, and bleed the brakes..i think.

Here's an old picture of this thing..It doesn't do too bad for being a broken slush box

Nothing to update on yet. And no pictures really.
This one's an '89 LX hatch. The only good thing about this car is that's it's a 5 speed 302, pretty mint interior, and zero chassis rust. The hatch has a little bit. The driver door was cut up for a lock and never painted, and the fender was cracked because of the crash.

I over paid, but for the price, I can't bitch too much about the car itself.
