  • The Bavarian Bomber: My E23 733i Purchased for $300.

    Hello all,

I've been a long-time lurker and sw has now become my favorite forum. Love the stuff on here. I figure it's time for me to start my own build thread as I sold off my old and dearly missed E39 540 and have no intention of modifying my new WRX. Just under two weeks ago I purchased an E23 733 for $300. Popped up on CL for $400 with no pictures and not much info, but texted the owner anyway and got some pictures. Within a week it was mine. The soul purpose of this car is to have fun with friends and not care about what happens to it. Before I get into it, here's a pic of my E39:

And here's a picture from the ebay listing when I sold it:

It was straight piped, had an m5 clutch, m5 bumper, and was on crappy fk streetline coilovers (weren't too bad, only bought them because my struts were blown and costs only a little more than four new quality struts). I did tons of other maintenance work but no need to include any of that.

Below is a shot of my WRX, the only thing different about it now is that it has mudflaps:

And here are pictures of the 733 before I touched it:

(I removed the 735 badge and installed the proper 733 badge)

Engine bay isn't clean but the engine runs well and starts great. Only problems I can identify are that it needs a fan clutch and it's got an oil leak. Trans cooler line also leaks at the radiator but not enough to justify replacing it. I just top off the fluid (that goes for the engine oil too). Yeah, the intake boot's cracked, but don't really care. Wiring is also sketchy and also don't care.

I then found myself bored and in the presence of a grinder with a cutoff wheel. Below is a video I saved from snapchat:

After realized how unacceptably loud it was, I reconnected the exhaust and cut off the rear muffler.

Today I, once again, was bored and was in the presence of two quarts of tan chalkboard paint. The following happened:

That's what I've got for now. The car needs much more low, I'll probably just cut the springs. Hope you guys see the humor in this project, I love it.
