I've been lurking on the forums for quite some time. I finally got my car back from paint so i figured i would share some pics.
I picked up my 85 535i/5spd a few months ago. Here is a pic a few weeks after i purchased her at Yalaha bakery for the FL/GA meet.
She doesnt look half bad in that pic. however the car was full of small dings and dents (over 50). It also had a flat black painted trunk thanks to one of the PO's. Luckily the car is rust free!
My step brother is going to auto paint/body school. He asked if he could paint my E28 as one of his projects for school. How could i turn down a free paint job? Afterall the car couldnt look any worse. Anyway, here is a pic after paint!
While the car was in the body shop i decided to bite the bullet and go with a full euro bumper conversion. Which of course lead to euro headlamps... and a Paul Ladue Hartge rep front spoiler.
During wetsanding
After wetsanding and buffing. Custom bumper brackets and euro lights installed.
Test fitting Hartge front spoiler and euro front bumper.
After my step bro and i buffed the car. We realized we messed up and created a bunch of swirl marks in the new paint. We followed the steps correctly but somehow managed to screw it up. Luckily Kyle (Fox on the forum) came to the rescue with his amazing detailing skills and got all of the swirls we created out of the paint with ease. Here are some shots he took on his driveway today.
and some interior shots. Forgot to mention i bought this car with no door panels, a destroyed dash, no glovedbox or knee boltser, and a bunch of other missing interior pieces.
Mint dash FTW!
Here is the most recent pic i have of my e28 and the cfbmw poker run.
So that pretty much sums up where im at with the E28 at this point. Future plans include fixing some oil leaks, GC coilovers, different wheels, E34 BBK, and a little boost.
