  • My 2013 F30 335i in Estoril Blue

Hey guys! My name is Chris and it is easy to say that I enjoy cars. I have enjoyed multiple builds over the years. Some being extreme and others being for fun!

I have always had a passion for BMWs. Starting with a ratty E30 then moving on to an e36 what seemed like forever. It was my daily and many people knew me for the car. It went from auto-x, to track, to road, to stance in it's life time.

    The E36

After my E36, I moved on to an E46. The car would be built by HPF for their 2.75 build using the 67 PTE turbo...Having 700HP+ to the wheels... the car would eat more tires than I cared to pay for....

Yes the HREs were rebuilt! I followed suit of a couple friends that gave me the courage to do it! Having never rebuilt a set of wheels I reached out to Thatcher and ordered the required parts. I split the 19x8.5 and 19x9 and turned them into 19x10.5 and 19x12 for the E46. Couple guys local to Murfreesboro gave me inspiration and moral support. One of the most tedious tasks to date; hand polishing a set of wheels.

I would buy an e90 for a blimp of time and never touch it...

    Flash forward to today; a 2013 BMW 335i F30.
Well, I have been enjoying my car now for a while as my daily.

Got a couple plans for the car and wanted to document my progress.

Thought a picture would help to start.

Current plans on the car in no particular order:

    Suspension:
Full AirLift 3H Setup - Install by Ginty parts by OpenRoad
Dual Compressors w/ 4 or 5 gal tank

    Wheels
    *Still debating...
    HREs (Again...last two cars)
    SSRs SP1s
    AG Wheels
    Rotiforms

    Exterior
Collecting a couple goodies and will post pictures soon.
    -skirt extensions
    -lip
    -trunk spoiler - Completed 3/13

    Interior
Started with some common items that are practical with the weather...
    -WeatherTech Mats and Trunk
    -LEDs Interior and Reverse Lights
    -Custom Puddle Lights Coming

Thanks for the input! I update the original post to include a couple of my ideas. Going to order the remaining air ride equipment this coming week. Plans changed on wheels due to a 3 month back order from SSR :/ Going to get the air installed first then have the wheels put on over April/May.

Now to start test fitting a couple of the pieces I have in the garage. Waiting till it gets a little warmer before installing them.

Me too! Every time I sell one of them, I miss them a little more than the last. The E36 had a million miles on her 986,xxx anyways...

Got a couple small updates. Going for the OEM+ look and will add some other items to the interior soon as well. Pictures always help though right?

Carbon fiber mirror caps installed and license plate came a day later...

Yea, I am on the road for work all the time. Just bought the 2013 F30 with 7k miles CPO and put 25k miles on the car in the past 7 months... I average about 1000+ miles every week :/

In the E36 only replaced the motor once and I think every part at least 3 times! Locals and friends called it the Million Mile M. It is the black one at the top.

Spent my weekend enjoying the weather and pampering the gal.

First we started off with a bubble bath..

Then I got out the motorsports logos, which wasn't an easy task.

I cut rubbing alcohol with a 50/50 or 75/25 mix. This was to lubercate the surface area to slide the 3M material around without it sticking right away. Using a rubber squeegee is important and not a plastic one so you don't scratch the flat black. Most sign shops do this process as well.

The sun started to go down rather fast so light was important. Took me roughly 45 minutes per side taking my time and using a heavy gun to properly remove bubbles.

                        Then the passenger side:
*Notice it is hanging there not fully applied! Had to grab a picture as I knew the sun was fading.

Then came the last little project for this weekend. I acquired a M4 Carbon Fiber spoiler. With a little sanding and prep work it fit great with a very thin seam. Using 3M double sided tape, cleaning the surface area with pure rubbing alcohol then apply adhesive promoter made this project a breeze. The lining it up was the only part that took time.

                          Update overdue!

Well, I had been hording parts and waiting until it warmed up some to start on the air ride. The last month has been fun to say the least with headaches here and there on the process.

All my work is being completed by the talented GintyFab outside of Philly. Amazing quality, communication and commitment to detail. His level of attention to detail in wiring and making sure every bit is presentable is top notch.

I decided to go with the AirLift 3H system with ride height leveling provided by OpenRoad Tuning working with Paul & Andrew.

Will be running a dual compressor setup with a seamless 5GAL tank that will be custom painted in Estroil Blue with custom powder coated straps in black.

I decided to go with a unique look on the wheels since I am in the north and we have snow.

Nah, actually decide to go with a Vossen CVT wheel setup wrapped in Pilot Sport tires. Running OEM TPMS sensors in the wheels as well.

                          Setup:
                          20x9
                          20x10.5

Well things have progressed well with my build. AirDynamiks proved to be a little troublesome on getting the right parts for the struts but in the end the results are good. This is what happens when you go into the area of the unknown and want to be in there in the first wave.

The 3H system works great and the sensors are aligned and calibrated.

After being worked on, she needed a bath.

Testing fitting the wheels and making sure it is sitting correctly.
