With getting the motor in the bay it can be done without cutting up the firewall or the radiator support. But requires a lot of subframe modifications not to mention heavy tunnel work and etc.
We are using the mount kit from http://www.classicdaily.net/
So with that you have to cut the radiator support. Since these 2002's are so small in general and we are adding a turbo, piping, intercooler. It's totally fine by us to cut in to the radiator support and make space.
Started but making a center section cut out just to see what is needed to make it work. Most likely will ut most of the radiator support off and create a nice custom removable section.

As you can see it fits and there is a bit of space.

Also boxed in the trailing arm for rigidity.
Sanded down and coated both arms.
Will do the poly bushings next.

Totally. We plan to reinforce other areas of the car as well.Originally posted by bmw_ixen View PostHi!
Great build from the earlier owner and now the build will take a new approach :-)
You should google "reinforcement engine mount bmw 2002".
This is a mandatory modification...
These cars were never designed to take on 2 or 3 times the original power not to mention add the number of years (age) to the mix. Will post updates as we get things done.
