  • My mkiii jetta

Since I've finished what I wanted to on my Maxima, gonna start on my jetta now. It's a 97 GL that I've had for a few months now. The car is a bucket for all intents and purposes but hopefully it'll be SW approved when it's all over.

Had to bring her home on a trailer, transmission is shot and the clutch slips terribly plus it rides like shit.

I apologize in advance for the potato quality pics.

    My snazzy tan interior.

Ended up buying a parts jetta GT a few weeks ago to take the black interior out of. Almost all of the interior is stripped out, just need to clean it good and transfer it into the black jetta.

New trans, clutch, flywheel and assorted items are being installed her shortly.

Plans are simple, finish the interior, new coilovers, new paint and wheels. Have GT Sport plad seat material that I am putting in as well.

This is honestly my favorite body style jetta. We're building my wifes 86 Cabby at the same time so who knows how long this will take, lol.

Really not too terribly much, just going to be simple and clean. Nothing too distracting. Maybe do a small radio build, polish some things under the hood. Not sure really if I want to bag it or not yet though. Maybe some e-code headlights. I'm not doing the typical VW build with having stretch and poke, it's just not my thing. I'm open to any and all suggestions though.

I bought this seat material yesterday to have my seats recovered, some GTI Sport Seat cloth. I have some scirocco seats that I'm thinking about using instead of the stock seats.

Also, got the parts jetta stripped of its crusty ass interior. Just needs a thorough cleaning.

Not much happened over the weekend, just cleaned up the interior bits a good bit. Clutch assembly should be in this week and the car should...hopefully be running by the weekend.

              Dirty, crusty

Got some new goodies for the car. My sport plaid seat material arrived. Plans with it are to cover the center of the seats with it then use plain black for the outsides as well as covering the door card inserts with it as well. Also got some matching gauge cluster overlays, they aren't a perfect match color wise on the red but it's close enough for me.

Went to Bug-in in Chattanooga over the weekend and picked up some Zender Sport wheels for the jetta in 15x7". Got them somewhat stripped yesterday.

                      "test fit"

Picked up an assload of bugs on the way to and from there.

Thank you. Gotta get some adapters and 1 center cap and I'll be good.

Finally got my turd running...for the most part. I've got a gas leak somewhere that I've not been able to locate. I replaced the gasket around the fuel pump, it had expired letting gas bypass and spill out when the car moved. It's still leaking when I fill up, just not as bad so the car is parked for now until I get time to pull the tank and see what's actually going on with it.

Also, the Zender Sports are finally getting a little love. Haven't worked on them in a while.

And decided to dip it one weekend to make it less 50 shades of black and more like 10 shades.
