BMW E34 520 touring

Hi, thought I'd make a thread on here since Ive not bothered for any of my other cars, as for the first stage at least its being done on a budget because I cant afford anything of worth until I sell my ibiza.

I bought the car for off a guy who had it for the last 10 years, the only problem with it was that a truck had scraped down the drivers side when it was parked and there was some rust, but who can complain for that price.

thats what it looked like when I got it.

So I bought replacement doors two new front wings and a full black leather interior for 150 quid, the only damage is a small rip in the drivers seat and someone kicked the back door because the car he was breaking was kept outside.

I also bought a bonnet and new front panel off another bloke which brings me to 550 on the car so far

I'll update the thread with better pictures once it looks sorta good but all I've done for now is fix damage and swap out the interior. Alot of progress (and Lows of course) to come after I sell my ibiza and sort out the insurance.

Got the front lowered, will do the back asap, also bought some adaptors which should come soon. ignore the shoddy paint on the wing, that'll be sorted soon too. And also got clear indicators. Better pictures will come when it looks less shite.

My adaptors finally came so I test fitted my klutches to see how they would look, Im going to run these to begin with, arch gap is a bit much because they're 16's but I cant go lower really because I live down a road thats full of monster speed bumps, I still need to lower the back because thats still at monster truck height so this update is pretty shit too.

Will probably change the tyre sizes a little, definitely on the back at least because I wont need the stretch that the backs had on the ibiza.

Lowered the back today, just waiting on 10 shorter headed bolts so I can fit the front adapters because they're thinner, test fitted 2 wheels anyway using one of the rear adapters on the front, Pretty happy not as good of fitment as I wanted on the front mainly but the wheels are pretty small on this car, that being said I am quite happy with how it looks so far, also got the front wing and the bumper damage painted.

Thanks, Im near Birmingham, I lowered the car by chopping springs since the coilovers require welding, I know most people are against that but I dont really care (so far seems like its gonna drive better than my ibiza on coils), Looking forward to see what you do with yours, black is probably the best colour for them in my opinion

Never driven a car with chopped springs, never sounded a good idea to me! But if it's seems ok then guess you'll be fine! I went the full hog and got some custom coils made my GAZ, pretty expensive but hoping they will be worth it! Only thing is I'm struggling to decide which top mounts to use :/ I heard e30 camber adjustable ones would work but I'm sceptical!!

I used jom cheap coilovers on my 518 tourer and they just slipped into the hub housing like original struts do so no welding but they were abit crashy although others have used them and we're happy!

Fair play, I would like to do the whole custom high quality coilovers but budget is very low at the minute, I was gonna go with jom but I just thought Id run chopped springs until /if something breaks then change to coils when I have to

Went to my first show of the year today, also had a general drive about, really liking the car, no complaints about the cut springs feels really good to be fair, other small change is I replaced the back box with straight pipe but it still has the mid boxes, they probably wont last long with the amount of scraping though.


My dads escort isnt actually that high, the black sills just make it look higher than it is.

I went up to 17's because I prefer how they look in diameter, I wish the backs were wider so I might get spacers, I will probably paint the mirrors in the same colour as we painted the wheels because we mixed a fair bit of paint. I will most likely change the tyres when Ive got money.

I know the bigger wheels has raised the car a bit and it doesnt look the best but the bit more ground clearance is sortof nice as I ripped my exhaust off last week when I was on 16's.

Not much top update really, I ran those fombs for about 3 seconds then went back to the klutches because I prefer them really and it would cost money to get the fombs to fit how I wanted them to, anyways since Im back on 16's Im actually low again and I prefer it that way, other than getting subs and smashing my front bumper with a bird nothing else to update really

Also my dad got an e30 which might have some plans in store for it

I just made a thing out of chopped up skoda bumper and cable ties to make it look less shitty
