  • New year, same old car, 10 year anniversary - UPDATE

Been years since I posted updates of this car. Most probe owners have moved on to other cars....but this was/is my first car. This past December 21st was 10 years since i bought it... so here we go..keep in mind theres lot in between each update here, the mod list is pages and pages long

    The day she came home.
    Red, grey interior, Automatic, hurting..

Before i ever drove it. Springs, wheels, exhaust, tint and stereo:

Painted, body kit, lambos, etc etc

Paint again, couple sets of wheels later, full black interior, transmission swap to manual, coilovers...bunch other other things

Big gap later...body kit is gone, new engine, boost and tons of other stuff....

    [COLOR="Silver"]

So that gets us to the last 3 or so years..

Turned up the boost, blew the second shitty wreckers engine up on the dyno and got myself here...

got a new heart and started that process

did a stock rebuild with ARP studs

Then on to the fun stuff.....

Spec'd some shorter stiffer springs.. lowered it a bunch more

Millenia Bar, protege Megan Racing toe arms, king6 bar mounts

    Got some new wheels!

My 2 girls together at work

Sold all my massive stereo stuff and built a sweet set up. sounds super nice now.

went through a few differnt drain lines and ended up with this cool guy!
Half hardline to keep it off the hot pipes

Welded all the intercooler pipes to clean it up a bit. Also pancaked the ones that go under the rad support to keep from smashing them.

Worked on a sweet oil filter relocation with Zr1 filter to try to make some space in that area:

Painted the wheels a custom mixed purple by a friend of mine.

Painted the shift knob the same colour and got the Redline shift boot and ebrake boot in black alcantera with purple stitch

My girls forester in the back ground.

So that basically gets me to today. I still work on the car every week. Currently my intake manifold was touching my hood causing a high spot in the hood. Made a few changes...

Working on a cool brake set up as well.

I had the regular mazda 6 set up. doing this instead..

      Stainless lines
      Speed 6 calipers
      Hawk Pads
Coleman racing Rx8 2 peice rotors!

Should have the bled and test driven this week...

I am going to keep this updated going forward. Should keep working on cool stuff this winter!!

This is sweet! Lots of quality work! I had a friend that had a GT back in the day and I always thought it was nice car.

Wow excellent work. Never cared for these things but you've really done it justice. That's a funky intake manifold (turbo V6 fistbump) with the divider directly after the throttle body. That's one way to not have to bother to design a proper manifold.

I like how you've stuck w/ this thing for so long and I liked seeing it at so many stages. I feel like this is the story w/ many of us and our cars :P great work!

Bad ass build, dude. The purple wheels are certainly different, but I have to give you credit for sticking with an unpopular chassis for so long.

I'm on my 8th year of owning my first 'project' car, when all of my friends have sold of theirs, too. Feels good to stay in the saddle so long, doesn't it?

Wow, you've converted me man. Last time I saw one of these was about 10 years ago and it was completely stock apart from a big gay wing, ew. Yours looks tremendous though.
