  • 350 V8 Ford Bantam/Mazda Rustler/MK4 escort ute

Not the usual thing you would see on here, I have not seen another in New Zealand. Since I'm from SA I wanted one for years and ended up finding this one for 800 randomly one day on Facebook. It is in pretty bad shape but I finally have a place with a garage now and now I can start on it once more. Hopefully complete it.

So basically the plan is to put a 350 in it and when I'm bored of that I might look at an LS since the 350 is pretty cheap have a couple of them sitting around at work I thought why not. The idea is using the same method as what they use in the UK to make the MK3 and MK4 escort rear wheel drive but instead of using the common Ford Sierra sub-frames and floor I will be using R32 stuff that I can pick up super cheap. As far as that goes its a long term project and lots of work involved.

How I got it on day one lol

Then it sat for a year winter came and rain no garage so it ended up quite rusty in the engine bay so hard work began last week First thing I did was remove the shitty radiator support going to make up a new one and removed the engine mounting bracket. Started cleaning up the bay

And for those wondering what the car is next to it, it belongs to my wife and that is her project i'm sure you will see it on here at some point 66 or 67 Skoda 1000

Its only South Africa that had them, pretty rare thing here in New Zealand.

I was going to use the Mazda FE 2.0L since i used them heaps in the past on my 323 builds like this

But since I work for company that build American cars and i can get parts fairly cheap for this motor if I need to. I decided to go with something different to my normal. I'm a die hard Mazda fan so this is really new territory for me lol
