My S13 240 : Ls swap, Corvette trans,ITB's, Widebody, Stupid wide wheels,
So, seeing as i had the day off today, i piddled in the garage a bit. Had a buddy come over and help wire in a few new plugs. Needed a 220v of course for the welder, and also added a standard 110v plug on this wall. For whatever reason when the house was built there wasn't a plug put on the far side wall of the garage. Anyway, got that wired up and working good, just need a bottle of gas now and I'm ready to start the fab work. I also mounted some hooks so that i could store metal tubing and other materials on the wall, as well as taking down my subaru flag and hanging a few things I've had lying around for a while.
Currently the front end is surround by stuff while I've been busy the last week or so :/ need to change that asap. Still have yet to pick up a daily. Hopefully once that happens ill get back into my routine and get some parts ordered, start some fab work, and get the ball rolling. In the meantime, i decided to clean up the wheels a bit so that i could remove the faces in an effort to be able to sell the barrels and make some more space in the garage. Anyone want some lmgt2 barrels?? It was a pretty day today so the wife and pup joined me outside. He loves the hose....
It got a bit chilly and windy after the sun went down so i resorted to closing the door and doing what i could inside. Decided to start planning out the front tube work and how i wanted to do it. Not sure how feasible my ideas are but that is what I'm leaning towards. Still need to order the front body work to mock up before the first cuts made, which should be very soon. Also received my new steering rack mounts from Villains. Need to mock those up and see what needs to be trimmed and cut to make them fit my modified steering rack
Im kinda leaning away from the casting process now. Since i made the decision to go with the vertical orientation with the itbs i think im going to attempt the cnc route. Ive got a few friends that have access to a water jet for flanges and 5 axis cnc i believe. But thanks for finding that build, was an interesting read.
the heat coming out of the vent in front of the itbs would get sucked right in, so it wold almost be constantly getting air warmed by the radiator...
Wouldnt be SUPER hot air, but warmer than ambient. Need to take some measurements and see how warm the air actually is thats passed through the radiator
ALTHOUGH, still proly cooler air than what is in the engine bay, as thats the alternative. open itbs in the engine bay. I think warmed air from radiator is the lesser evil. As you dont have the block and exhaust radaiting heat in a closed space that is the engine bay.
Ya i was surprised myself on the price as well. And i dont think will be doing out the hood. Maybe. Ill be running a Kogushi power central vented hood. Will more than likely cut out some under side bracing, slap in some louvered vents on each side. Main reason against out the hood is weather here. Rains ALL THE FUCKING TIME here in louisisana esp. during the summer where we get afternoon showers almost everyday. So open vertical throttle bodies prolly arent the best idea. Would look sick as hell and sound amazing tho.
There was a guy on here who did his own castings and made his own itb's but I cant for the life of me find the build thread in the search. He was also getting into 3d printing. Real cool build but I cant find it in the search but maybe someone else will remember the build.
If you could find that, that would be FANTASTIC and id appreciate it very much.
Speaking of itbs, ive been doing alot of thinking on how i want to make them. Thought about making them cross each other and what not like the jenvey and kinsler setups, but that seems extremely difficult and is much more common route on LS motors. So i think i am going to do the vertical ibs like the link below. With how low the motor is i think i will have plenty room. Need to find a cheap s13 hood to throw on and check and see how much room there actually will be under there.

Just got the check from insurance yesterday and am cashing it to day at lunch so now im officially ready to purchase. Buddy of miner is selling an evo x but not sure i can swing the cash with a baby on the way.
Here is some motivation, I'm sure the wife and baby would be pleased
New toys - nice.. Have you decided on a new daily yet?
