  • KK's 95 M3 Escapade

Sup dudes! Been a while since I made a thread but I still post/comment all the time.
I wasn't expecting to make any kind of thread so it'll be lacking in photos here and there at first but I'll keep it updated with maintenance and build photos!

So a quick update on me if anyone cares

I moved to California about 10 months ago now, Philadelphia was getting boring and I had been there since birth so I decided it was time for a little change. I wanted to experience a new place and a different lifestyle, be closer to my homies, and get started on becoming a good fabricator!

This thread will contain maintenance stuff and wide body progress for the most part.

I decided to bring my E36 M3 along with me instead of buying a new car because I'm lazy and didn't want the hassle of selling and buying another car.

For those of you who know me you already know what I do, but for those who don't I'm a BMW technician. So that meant ever since I moved here I've been pouring a whole lot of money into this damn car getting it back into really good shape mechanically because it would be bad to be a tech but drive a pile of crap haha.

Here's a list of the parts I've replaced so far from the the past 6 months and counting:

    Fan
    Fan clutch
    Accessory Belt
    Spark plugs
    Plug ends
    Valve cover gasket
    Oil pan gasket
    Mass air flow sensor
    DME replacement
    Oxygen sensor
    Engine mounts
    Steering rack
    Power steering pump
    Power steering hoses
    Power steering reservoir
    Control arms
    Control arm bushings
    Inner tie-rods
    Outer tie-rods
    End links
    Transmission flush
    Differential flush
Brake fluid flush, 2 times (to be thorough)
    Braided steel brake lines
    Brake light switch
    Steering column bearing
    Front rotors
    Front pads
    Front pad sensor
    Water pump
    Thermostat housing
    Thermostat
    Coolant hoses & hardware
    Driver side door handle assembly

For maintenance I never took photos because I didn't really care haha, but a couple days ago I was like ahh might as well. So these are really the only photos of have for that but I am doing more work to the car so I'll take more. Buttttttt as for the wide body I took a few photos, that's all we really care about anyway am I right?

Pictured on the left is the wrong water pump, our parts guys sent me an e46 water pump instead of a S50 one, didn't realize until I went to install

This post is still in progress, will finish updating shortly...

Alright so for a while I ran an aggressive set of BBS RS I built for the car and proceeded to crank it all the way down. It looked incredible, but after a while the fitment started to take a toll on the rear fenders (which were only barely rolled) and the car was starting to look haggard.

The car would squat a bit and sit inbetween the stretch of the tire and rim, which actually made the fenders bow in a bit haha

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Since I was doing an entire mechanical overhaul on the car, I thought the outside needs some loving too.

I had a set of Felony Form fenders sitting around that I got from Ollie forever ago, so I decided to put them on to freshen up the look.

If I was going to install fiberglass fenders in the middle of this overfender craze I wanted to do it right. Everything had to be proper, no half-ass fender hacking, no cutting corners, no anything.

Started off by taking the fenders to a body shop to have them professionally painted, gave them the paint code and even my gas door so they could match it closely. They came back looking like this, I'd never seen Cosmosschwarz glisten so beautifully!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

After getting the fenders back, they mostly sat around the shop for a while as I was busy helping Mike and Byron finish Rusty for SEMA 2015 that just passed. I was in no real rush to get the car looking better since I was still going thru maintenance repairs on it at work during this time. This leads into the quick mention of me wanting to become a better fabricator; I've always had a desire to create parts, come up with my own designs, or even mend broken things. Working on Rusty with my homies was the perfect opportunity for me to better myself, so the guys took me under their wings (ha so cliche!) and I joined the mofos to help bring back one of the most iconic cars in our car scene! Can't lie, it's been the coolest thing I've ever done, an honor really ... and it's an even better feeling when it's with your best friends.

So I got to work cutting, welding (I still suck ass), making brackets, gussets, and etc all from scratch. Along every step of the way the guys gave me insight on where to improve, as such many parts were remade over and over until it was satisfactory haha.

Brace for the air jack nozzle

Brackets for the fire extinguisher nozzles

Disassemble the entire car 7 days before we had to head out

    And so on...

Here's a photo of the car I took at the H&R booth

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

After the calming of the storm I went back to focusing on getting the car looking pretty once again!

Started with the front fenders since they would be the easiest as the skin is only one layer.
Cut the fenders up to the appropriate height so they would never hit the tire if I somehow ever bottomed out extremely hard, they are now higher than the frame rails under the fenders.

Here you can see majestic Byron starting on the passenger side

We first made sure the fenders sat perfect atop the body, then measured where to drill for the rivets, and then spaced them out accordingly, also every rivet on the car is 1/2'' from the outside edge.

That night I didn't take anymore pictures as it was late and we were trying to finish both sides. But we mounted the fenders on the car drilling and using 1/8'' clecos, and got them sitting right we wanted them. One by one we removed them and proceeded to bore out the holes to 3/16'' which was the rivet sizing Mike and I had chose.

This was the outcome once completed

Looks great man... I gotta get my felonys on; still need tires, adapters and E46 arms before I start cutting. What type of specs you going to be running? I got a set of 18X10 work XD-9's but trying to figure out adapter sizes.
