The other side worked out mint so really I only have one side to redo. I am learning how to fit the buck better and therefore the fender will sit more accurately fitment-wide to the wheel. After the first fender didn't fit great I thought that the buck needed a redo, but it was just the fact that I needed to make the panel better. There is even clearance on the tire to the fender all around, I've moved the fender slightly forward to accomodate the mk4 non-centered wheel issue, and I can still air out another 1/2" easily to sit right on the fender. I might put the nutserts into the body on this side as I am confident the shape is good. Eurokracy (montreal car show) is next weekend and unfortunately the car isn't going to make it this year, but that's ok because next year I will be ready for sure. There's alot of work still to be done and each new task is challenging. Follow me here for updates: https://www.instagram.com/jb_maf/
    Here's some update pics:

The transition piece looks good too:

but the fitment is off on this side so this is just to practice:

Some 3 piece barocks I made for my buddy's 190

      • Damn, you've done a nice job on these and I totally vote that you should take the time to integrate these into the body of the car as opposed to the bolt on route. I'd say you definitely have the skill to pull that off correctly, and it would really complete the car. I am biased, I'm just not a fan of the rivet flare trend personally. You put in the effort to hand craft these wild flares out of steel (which takes very specific tooling and a ton of time/labor/skill to accomplish), it almost seems like a shame just to bolt them onto the body.

Again this is all my opinion, not bashing your decisions as I'm sure you'd just like to see the car done and driving, I've been there... Plus, who am I to tell you how you should do things?

Either way, you're putting in a ton of man hours into your build and that's respectable. Your craftsmanship alone has me checking up on this thread frequently. Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

          • Made another driver side fender. Looks even better then the first two. All one piece and very little body filler will be needed. This one was just practice as the one on the car is already screwed to the body. I'm getting better at these panels, this one sits right on the buck almost perfect with no twisting or assistance from my hands which is huge improvement. I gotta make the passenger one again this week. I should be able to knock it out no prob now. Here's the rear:

Thanks guys, the shot from the rear looks a bit much and it is definitely wide but when it's all together with the diffuser bits and side skirts/splitters it will fill out. I'm finishing customer parts this week then back at it with the fenders. I'll keep you posted

The skirts will protrude slightly downwards on an angle, and be slightly larger at the back wheel. They won't exactly meet the fender width but I'm looking at doing a side splitter that will have an aero piece that connects to the fender to close things up. I hope that makes sense.

CHeers dude, I'm in Kitchener, Ontario. I've done 2 sets of splits so far with a set of BMW bottle caps started. I don't do alot of them but doesn't mean I wouldn't if someone was interested. I saw some Nova Scotia guys at Eurokracy. Nice people

I finished the little front transition piece, and just need to tack it in. My regulator on my mig welder needs a little piece so I'll do that tonight when I get home. I mocked up a little aero prototype piece that will run from the side splitter upwards to help close the gap visually. I'm starting to think that the 20th side skirts will work for me now. This will save me some time as there are too many projects on the go for the car. I made a little time lapse video that shows the entire construction of one fender in 60 seconds to show what goes into making one. I'm no expert but I thought it would be fun to share how I did it.
