  • Volvo 945 B230FT 1990

Hey guys, I just made this account so I thought I'd share my car. I have owned 6 Volvos so far, rwd's, fwd's and awd's, but I always wanted a rwd Turbobrick wagon, so around 13 months ago I randomly stumbled upon a really cheap one which seemed to be in great condition too so I bought it. It was much slower than my C70 T5 at the time but I quickly realised how much more practical it is so I got rid of the C70 and decided to make the wagon look cool :P

Few months went by and a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to buy his 745T. I immediately said yes because it had lots of parts that would fit on my 945. It had custom made adjustable coilovers, 16x8 Performance Outlaw concave rims, around 350hp engine which was untuned and needed a lot of work, but it still ran.

Next thing it was on the truck heading to my place

First thing I did was swap over the coilovers and the rear sway bar. Made the car handle really well and it didn't feel like a boat any more.

The next thing were the rims. Rears fit almost flush but the fronts were poking around 10mm. Unfortunately I had to sell the parts car because I had no space for that car and I didn't end up getting any engine parts off it. Luckily It was bought by another Volvo enthusiast who placed that engine into his 245 :P

It finally started getting some attention at car meets but it also started getting police attention. I got a fine for the front rims poking, which was bs but couldn't do much about it. I tried fitting some flares but didn't like any of them. It was also hard to find square flares that wouldn't look ridiculous. I even thought about Jeep flares but they were all too expensive and too wide. I put the flares idea aside and decided to move along.

Had an idea of changing the colour of it, doing something unique. Looked into resprays and vinyl wrapping but they were both out of mu budget so I found a website which sold big rolls of wraps and decided to wrap it myself with a help of friends. I have had previous experience with wrapping my friend's Audi A5.

Wrap I chose was brushed steel, it was sort of a matte finish with a shine when in the sun or exposed to light. Wrapping my car ended up taking 6 long days and cost me around $400Aud which was pretty cheap considering a shop would charge like $3k. Also ended up doing most of the car myself, which was so fun! (sarcasm intended)

Ohh before I forget, you may have seen these images floating around on Facebook, but this is actually my wagon haha. My good friend Yasid ran out of ideas and I suggested that he modifies my car. The images exploded once they were shared by Car Throttle reaching over 20k likes and 10k shares. Neither of us could believe what has happened haha.

Moving on, I decided to temporary change my rims until I can find a way to import my dream rims that I wanted for the past few years. I decided to get some BBS RS reps. Made the car look sick and lots of people seemed to like them but I also started getting a lot of h a t e for running fake rims lol. I never understood why people go out of their way to h a t e on your car. But anywho, this is what it looked like.

Ended up getting clear indicators all round as well as darker tints and a spoiler. Wrapped the tailgate in black brushed steel for a bit of a contrast.

The cops seemed to like it as well :P

Bonnet wrap didn't look great so I decided to peel it off and re do it. Peeled it off without using any heat and the clear decided to come off with it $350 later I got my bonnet resprayed in a grey colour with a hint of brown. I liked the result because the car was matte with a glossy bonnet, quiet the opposite of the current mainstream trends.

In early October I had enough money saved up to get new rims and started doing my research. No one has imported these rims to Australia yet so I had to find out everything by myself. I found a company in Norway who would ship them over and around 6 weeks later they were here!

Ended up rolling my guards in the rear because they scrubbed a lot. I also made my own custom tyre writing of my brand name - Winning Designs. Also did a resonator delete, new muffler and added a boost tee - boost controller. Currently running around 9-10psi.

Can't wait for the 2016! Have lots of plans for it. The goal is to get 300hp atw, make a custom wide body and maybe change the colour on it :P
    More coming soon.

Wow, looks great! Very Nicely Done.

I'm surprised I stumbled on this thread. This time last year I wanted to get a Volvo wagon. I went to my local volvo mechanic and asked if he had or knew of any for sale. It was actually the one in the pictures, Peer, at GLT Car Centre. He even offered the parts car you bought of your buddy (his son I'm guessing). Wish I had of bought it now.

Anyway, sorry to highjack your thread, I just thought it was funny. Keep up the good work, and I'm now subscribed!

Wow that's pretty amazing haha. I was looking at that car for over a year and I told Ryan that I will buy it if he ever wants to sell it. I though he would want like at least $3.5k for it but when he told me $1600 I was like SOLD!! haha.

That car really needed a lot of work. Like the interior was wrecked, had heaps of switches everywhere, I had no idea what they were. Seats were ripped and leather was almost solid, all plastics broken, stereo missing, wires everywhere, aftermarket computer was on the driver's side floor, needed a tune, had missing things in the engine bay, like the airflow sensor, even Peer didn't know anything about it. So I took what I needed off it sold it for like $1200. I wish I had a place to put it because then I could just put parts from that engine onto mine. It had a pretty big Turbonetics turbo on it. Apparently that 740 was pushing 350hp when it was tuned, my goal now is to get 300hp atw on mine :P

Heyy another brick ive had 3 rwd bricks and changed my 940 b230ft to a aero saab but now i want my volvo back

Looking good but i would get rid of that grey wrap! The original color looks alot better to me. Its also quite easy to remove the front light wipers so i recommend that

heres my ex volvo : http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=74744

Thanks and yeah I'm getting annoyed with the wrap but I'm scared that the clear will come off as well when I take the wrap off. Yesterday I started building a massive front splitter for it, it will come flush with the top part of the bumper and it will have those arms holding it. Next thing I'll do is wide body E30 M3 style, well that's the idea anyway, not sure how it'll turn out :P I also started researching T5 swaps haha.

Your red car looked good! You should definitely get another one

way more cool getting alot of power out of the original engine than swapping in something bigger

It's not really a bigger engine, just an extra cylinder haha. I used to have the high pressure turbo C70 1998 and I liked the simplicity of tuning it. A simple plug and play ecu to gain 45hp and 55nm for $450 isn't bad at all :P this also made it go 0-100 in like 6sec flat lol
