Hey guys! I've always wanted to start a build thread, just never knew how to start one lol. Anyways about me, I've loved cars since I was a little kid, I would play with hot wheels ( who didn't ) draw them and always wondered how they were to drive. My older brother actually got me into GT 2, I loved that game! My favorite car was a wait for it, for a Skyline GT-R R34. Fast forward some years! In high school I always wanted a Cobalt SS, I thought it was such a killer car, but little did I know about the Japanese cars. The GT-Rs, the 180SXs, MR2s, S2000s, Supra's I loved them all! Then I found out about the RX-7 yes the FD ( first of course ) I loved the look of it so sleek, so ready to take on the Bayshore route look man I loved it! But alias I wanted a 240SX, my friend's dad had one and it was awesome! the pop ups the interior I found it so hard to believe it was a car from the earlier 80's. Fast forward a few more years, all my friends had 240SXs and I of course was carless, and driver license less, dreaming of owning a S13 to drift and redline all night. Well years later and saving money up, my friend found a CL posting for a 88 RX-7, at first I was like no! I wanted a S13 so I was very stubborn, also I thought rotaries were unreliable ( Apex seals myth lol ) but 1600$ later I had my first car a little beaten up 88 RX-7 SE, it had eBay coil overs ( that didn't lower!! ) 15 inch rims on 195 tires! It looked a low rider lol.... but one year later I saw it, a 1986 super stock RX-7 GXL White, I was in love.. And well a lot of negations and badgering my friend later I bought her. I was in love, it had a LSD so I was able to clutch kick, no engine issues so it flew to 7K happily, but it had issues, some rust spots ( It was from New York ) Drivers door didn't open lol, or roll down, leaky cat ( yuck exhaust lol ) and a old front diff mount.. but bone stock, two owners, and a aux cable stereo lol and S5 tails ( They were so clean.. ) fast forward to now here she is my friends
Posted with my buddy's 240SX.
Sadly I lost all original photos of her but first thing first exhaust leaked knocked, made it straight pipe from down pipe to the Y mufflers ( Sweet sound ) Came up on a slightly used but loved GTU S5 wing
Then I came up on an amazing deal for Coil overs, my friend was getting rid of his old BC BR coils so $600 and S5 taillights later I got em!! Months later ( I'm horrible I know )

Fixed the front diff mount with a brand new Mazda Comp Diff mount ( Yay ) Next thing of course was Wheels, I always wanted TE37s, but they are expensive! So I rode on my super sweet stocks for months lol, I sadly passed up on some Grenade GX-01 I was too cheap, but I came across some RPF1s for sale and after some thinking, I did it!!
At my friends installing them!
Yay new wheels, Sadly the front tire is huge 225/50/17 50!!! what the heck, but I just ordered new fronts ( 225/35/17 Just waiting on shipping! )
Next was mounts, New engine and transmission mounts Delrin too!
So all installed and I drive, but something else was wrong.. Oh god the horror, Every time I shifted to 5th gear my car felt like it was going to explode ( I was scared for the worst.. ) Also it made like a noise that sounded like someone was hitting a metal pipe with another metal pipe when it was going 30ish, my friend jacked it up, and sure enough it was a the drive shaft the U-joint after 28 years, was ready to jump out, I kid you not you could literally move the drive shaft left and right thankfully one night later I got a used one, then the emergency surgery

Doctor Colin to the rescue!
We fixed it was all gravy! So here she is now
