  • The Slowest BMW E39 Build Thread from The Netherlands.

    Hello everyone!

I've introduced myself last year to this forum and have been hooked ever since, now that I'm 18 and almost have my drivers license it's time for a vehicle. What sort do you ask? It's a BMW 520i E39 automatic. I didn't want to start with a "cheap" car like an Opel Corsa B or a Peugeot 106. No, I wanted a BMW E39. I have loved this model of 5-series since my brother had one. That was a grey 523i. But first some pictures! Excuse me for the Instagram Filter. (Give me a follow if you want! @qTNSan

It was a bit weird how I got the car. I was at work when my brother messaged me with "This is something for you" with the link to the car. That was when I knew it should be mine. It is from 1997 and had some issues, the main one was it didn't have an exhaust because it clogged up or something. It also didn't have a radio. Skip a few days later and the BMW was mine. I couldn't be more proud! When I first saw it I must admit that it didn't look good at all, dusty and in rough shape. We loaded it up on the trailer and brought it home.

After a few days I had found an exhaust of an 523i and it fitted almost right. We needed to weld it because we had transported it in 2 pieces. I also found out it had coilovers from V-Maxx or something. personally I think it is a bit too low. I can raise the front a few centimeters but the rear is in its highest position.

Now onto plans. These will happen after the winter when I've saved a small amount. The rims will be 17 inch E60 wheels I believe, NOT the M5 rims. I will get other ones, probably BBS CH-R.

    Pic for reference:

Also M5 bumpers will be a thing. It will get everything like the facelift. The interior will get cream colored leather or black leather M5 interior.

Engine wise I'm looking for a V8 swap from a 540i or 740i. Probably going to buy a complete 740i because in Germany they are pretty cheap and I only need the engine + Transmission. There will be a small chance that it becomes a manual even though the automatic is very very nice. It won't get much stance but a small bit is welcome. Because it's my daily and speedbumps aren't friendly. For coilovers i'm thinking about the KW Inox V2's.

Maybe i'm going to paint grey like the Subaru from MCM. I really like the color and I think it will look extremely nice.

Again, this build will take a long time... But it's all about making it happen. Sure the end-product will be Awesome but the road to it will be the most fun.

Don't have any pictures of them but they are V-maxx coilovers. But I need other ones soon, these begin to squeek a bit.
