  • 240sx convertible removable hardtop build

Hey everybody, some of you might remember me from my 510 wagon build. I still have it. But also picked up a new project.

A 93 240sx convertible with a broken soft top frame! I picked up from a customer at my buddy's shop, drove it home for $850!

My buddy is lending a hand with this projects since it is so awkward to move around by yourself. We have about 40 hours into it so far.

So with the soft top frame being snapped, due to flying open while driving. We decided to fab up a removable hardtop for it.

    and so it begins...

    Broken top, time to go!

Picked up a S13 coupe roof from a buddy for $50!

    First mock up.

Retained the factory soft top sealing plate and latches for the front!

Took off the factory convertible quarter panel trim and cut the lip of the QP down a 1/4", starting to fit better!

These next pics are as of last weekend, 10/23/15.

    ready for a rear window!

So that's where I am at now. I need to find a rear window, and a few coupe from pieces to complete the roof. The front edge still needs a little work and a roll over the sealing plate for a factory look. Working on seals for the rear of the roof and some latches.

After the roof is done, I will be getting to other bits of the car. But first get everything one color!

It's a automatic, all 240sx verts were unfortunately. I have most of the 5 speed swap stuff.

The plan is to swap in the L33 engine and Z32 trans I just picked up from a buddy!

Thanks everybody! Hoping to find a rear window soon, not easy to find and not cheap at all!

are you gonna latch down the back of it at all? I would be a little worried about just having those two latches up front without anything on the back

Mentioned it at the bottom of my first post, but yeah I am working on some latches to hold the rear down. There will be 2 locating studs on the roof to locate it in the rear then some sort of latch on each C pillar. I will be tackling that this coming weekend!
