Here is the chassis midway through the restoration. I punched 3 inch holes through the tunnel for cosmetics and built a pedestal for the shift leaver as the gearbox has been moved 2,5" up to lower the car but retain a positive camber on the back wheels, the floors were both rusted so I had to replace them...[IMG]

Raising the gearbox, opens up a million other modes you need to do, like raising the parcel tray floor to clear the gearbox and starter motor and while I was at it I narrowed the inner rear fender tubs an inch or so and I also reshaped them at the bottom front to clear the tires.

Enough of the body mods for now, here are some of the engine bits and pieces.
I picked up a pair of descent ported heads and an awesome set of throttle bodies, the only challenge was there aren't any manifolds to pair them together. I found a set of Empi manifolds which I opened up the ports to match the heads and cut the tops off twisted the base plate to fit the throttle bodies and got them welded up, just like that...
found an old style fan housing that needed some attention.

Spent a night simplifying the alternator stand as one does...
End result was worth the effort
The motor has come together nicely, it's about a 2300cc with a 10:1 compression ratio, a lot of the right internal bits to make it operate and reliable. I cant wait to fire it up for the first time.
I ran a full set of copper fuel pipes from front to back of the car to add to the colour theme of black and copper. I want the car to have a retro rod feel, with an bit of steam punk old school edge to it but with 21 century tech bolted on. I still need to figure out how to add on air filters to the set up.

hmmm air filters would be difficult on there. you could always run mesh like lots of turbo cars do. or perhaps make something inside the stacks that would hold a small piece of filter material, without sucking it inComment

Found these cool 18" rims that had the potential I was looking for.
only challenge was the front ones wher way to wide for rod look, So we cut 2" out the inside
They are right on track now.
Now all I needed to do was get the colour dialed in. I kept the center bit silver and the spokes black so copy the old school look and feel, but modern.

Next up was the gearbox,First off I build the mounting bracket to raise the box
The box rebuilt with A CB super diff to handle the extra pony's. Time will tell if it'll be ok. The ratio's should be cool on the open road as I'm running tall tires on the back... Note the copper bits coming through again. I thought the the gearbox mounting plate would be a cool detail from the back but the deeper oil sump blocks it completely... Unless I run you down...
Here is the gear shift rod I made up using metal plate and lamination wood sections to it similar to a knife handle. You can also see the fuel line running above the channel and the drilled and copper plated hand brake.
The next step was making a plate and boot to fill the hole in the body. I used a copper plate with rubber skin under it. You can also see the computer box, the control module for the MSD ignition and the coil. I may still get the blue anodized again so it doesn't stick out like a dogs balls...
