If you remembered a few months ago in the intro thread, I posted of my Daihatsu Hijet and of my 50cc Maddog scooter. Well, time for that build thread. About damn time.
So onto my daily driver. A rhd Daihatsu Hijet with a DOHC 3 cylinder EF 660cc engine. Also has puch-button 4wd with high/low gears. First found on craigslist down in southern California already made to be Cali-street legal and bought as a secondary driver back in December 2013. Then turned to a primary and has never let me down with weird problems that most project cars tend to have. So, I have been dailying it for a good year and half. If you don't include two or so months of it getting a new engine. New engine was just the result of me having to do an emergency stop to avoid rear ending someone and messing my cranck case up.
So onto some updated/past pictures.
My first local kei-truck friend. A retired Chief with a Suzuki model. He was getting gas while I was at the laundry-mat and I approached him about his cool truck. We later took pictures together
Older pictures.
Got a crane for the scooter. It bottoms up on ramps. Then I got tired of lifting it on the back.
Then... got a roofrack shipped from Japan. Better place for the full size spare tire and Japanese plate.
My newest mod, some Hello Special fender flares on it. Next will be a coilover kit I recieved a few days ago. Might start on the front tomorrow. Going to also start looking into stretched tires.
First bought.
How I start each day.
And of course my scooter! A 2014 Maddog scooter from Icebear. Pretty much a factory stretched, semi-lowered Chinese clone of a Honda Ruckus that is about half the price. Mine is lowered with Lowboy rear shocks and Maddog trike stock front forks that are actually 2 inches shorter that the stock forks the scooter came with. The 50cc engine also has a 100cc big bore kit, I retuned the carb, and of course aftermarket mirrors. Also new front fender and jury rigged a rear fender to fit. The wheels are also whitewalls that have been stretched on the stock rims.
On to pictures of that bad boy!
What she looked like first bought. Notice the stock mirrors have relocated to the Hijet lol.
Only issue it seems to have is the brake light is stuck on. Might be a connection, I'll fix it down the road.
