  • The Route 1 Phantom

    Hello S/W,

This is my '84 Z31 2+2 GL NA2T. I have had her for a little over four years--'been restoring and modifying her since. She still needs a mild restoration to make her perfect:

    1. Body and paint rework (some small rot on the floor, mediocre/hastened welding, small fiberglass tailgate patch, rough fenders/quarters, and REAL two-tone paint)
    2. AC re-installation and heater core replacement
    3. Smaller tires and a bit more poke
    4. Restored radio
    5. Hooking up my fender mirror motors
    6. Modify front brackets for the 85-88 Maxima SE front air dam

Oh man I love z31's. This looks amazing, apache II's look so at home on this car, same with that ice blue two tone paint job. It looks like a car from Shuto Kousoku.

By route 1, do you mean PCH or the highway in japan that goes through tokyo and osaka?

Apache II's absolutely fit on any pre-kouki Z31 model! Part of my inspiration came from 260Z's factory-option wheels:

And do tell me more about these Japanese Route 1's, because I just named it after the stretch of highway that I have always lived near in NJ

Not necessarily a car in the movie, but it seems from that period, and modified in the style that a lot of the cars in the 1st trial were. Kind of like when you see a picture of a car with a large spoiler, cheesy graphics, and ugly wheels you think that it looks like a car from the fast and the furious. Not necessarily a movie car, but of the style.

Route 1 connects a lot of japan's large cities, and connects to famous racing spots(at least back in the 90's they were famous) like the nagoya expressway, the c1 loop then to the Shuto expressway. It was unofficially used in the TXR series of video games and in some Option and Best Motoring videos.

Gotcha. Yep, that is exactly what I wanted to do with this car!
