Torn Inlet boot, broken fan, no guard,



Bought a new clutch fan, installed that and the new plastic guard directing all of the cool air right to the motor again.



First mod! Front Strut bar - also I replaced that torn inlet



Wired in the Reverse lights




Painted the amber






Wired in a Radio!


Painted the wheels, painted some trim and tucked the rear bumper







Drove to San Fransisco!

After 2 days of experimenting I finally fixed my RPM/economy gauge.
I replaced the SI batteries which didn't do anything. I then swapped SI boards from a retro fitted '88 which I wasn't sure if it worked or not but after turning the key it was more responsive however it didn't respond to revs after turning the car on. I then replaced the white BMW # marked Lego looking piece in front which didn't change anything. I checked my ground wires and probably disassembled and reassembled the cluster a dozen times to check the si board for damage or if extra solder had landed and merged anything. Couldn't find anything.



I then checked my fuse box... And that fixed it.
The previous owner seemed to put any # fuse where ever it fit, and my box had a handful missing as well.



For those of you trying to fix your RPM gauge, here is my thoughts for you.

I don't believe it's very likely for the SI board to go bad or for the gears in the gauge to go, I would diagnose your gauge in this order.

1. Fuse box - check 10, 12, and 21 - they all should have 7.5 fuses in them
2. SI batteries - although these are rechargeable batteries, they tend to die after 30 years.

If these didn't fix your issue, then some of your condensers and resistors on your SI board may have failed, or the gears on your gauge are stripped and you need an entirely new gauge.

My shifter rod failed on me




So the next morning I picked up an AKG short shifter with a DTM DSSR!






Later that night I installed it - this was 2 days ago







Looks awesome!




Painted the front strut tower bar




and then went for a cruise - love my new AKG!

Did some donuts and ripped my engine mounts which slide the engine over roughly 3 inches or so, the alternator ripped into the radiator hose it the next morning I fixed it for $25!







After fixing it I installed some fog lights and drove the car to Yakima to help shoot a Patagonia Commercial!





The ugly muffler fell off and that made me happy



It seems that every time I go into 3rd and 5th gear my guibo hits my AKG DSSR, is that because my tranny mounts are so weak?

Last week I eliminated 60 pounds of weight from the front and back!
