Last weekend I went to Formula Drift and Ken Gushi and the Scion Racing Team egged me on to do a burn out and this is the day I learned that my car has an open diff. (mind you I'm new to these)

      It was worth it

As any young 20 something with an urge to do proper burn outs would - I took my car over to a friends to weld the diff

      Looks good right?

Well the Guibo Flex Disc deterioration accelerated when I tested out my first 2wd burn out, thus knocking my shifter rod off the transmission.

and this thing was leaking coolant everywhere this morning.

I bought a new retainer clip for the shifter rod that I then put back in place, fixed the guibo with an OEM replacement, wired in the reverse lights that I noticed were disconnected, fixed an exhaust leak, fixed the coolant leak and then took her out for a spin, she's running smooth again!

Thanks man, yes, hoping to get BC Racing coilovers, wide, not sure on the specs yet, all I know is I'll be rockin some Falken Azeni's because my plans for this build are to build it into a drift car. I'm interested in doing an S54 swap but know nothing about it, is that an attainable goal? Or is it too complicated? What do you guys think?

I spent the last 4 months helping with a liberty walk M3 that I sponsor in Australia so I'm definitely hooked on the idea of bolt on flares.

It's a pretty well documented swap now. If you tried a 5 years ago it would've been a different story. But as far as an s54 swap being in your budget................I wouldn't. There's many other swaps out there that will suit your needs

Ok good to know, I'm not a purist by any means (I'm pretty sure that's obvious if you know me) but I would like to keep the motor BMW.

                        Okay. Regardless, you can do turbo m20, m30, m50, m52, s52, etc
