I bought this car a few months back, as my 525ia touring was falling apart fromt rust and high milage so i found this one, a 10/1992 520i touring with 155.000 KM on the clock and was imported into iceland in 2007, so it was fairly rust free but had been sitting since 2012 because the previous owner slid into pole on a icy road and he had started to part it out to use for his other e34, but luckily most of the parts where still with the car, it was mostly just interior parts missing, all the important parts where still there, so i took a few nights and threw it back together so i could start using it, i have 2 parts cars so i have most of what i needed, and i knocked the rear fender back into shape so i could use it for now, but i will be replacing it soon
The plan is to make this a clean daily driver, s when i have the time to replace the rear fender i will hopefully paint a few parts of it or maybe the whole car, but for now i'm focusing on fixing the small things, so i put it all back together and went to have it inspected (MOT'd?) so a few things came up, not to my surprise as it had been sitting for so long, it had a bad brake line to the right rear wheel, rear thrust arm ball joint, a cracked windshield and no handbrake, so i only got half inspection, so i fixed all the things a few days later except for the handbrake, so it drives pretty well now.
I cant say it had many options from the factory but i have alot of extras i will be putting on it.

This is how it was when i got, had been standing there since 2012 looking pretty sad

And then after a few hours of work

The blue rear bumper was horrible so i bought some white spray paint and painted the bumper, i also cut out a hole for the towing hook

And i put the towing hook under it

And with the bumper on and in a similiar white alot better than the blue atleast, also the paint is pretty faded so i'm gonna try and polish it up

Then i got the sunroof working and lubed it all up, now works perfectly

Added armrests to the front seats wich make all the difference

Then i drove the car for a couple of days and all was well, until it started overheating, so i suspected it was a bad thermostat so i bought a new one and a new aluminum housing for it as the old one was plastic and was leaking decided to buy a new waterpump while i was at it

So when i pulled the thermostat housing of it it looked like this and the thermostat was stuck closed

Then i moved on to the waterpump wich was clearly the main cause of the problem, as the propeller was plastic and had shattered

Starting too look alot better than the old stuff

And finally, the temperature where it should be and no more overheating!

And this is how the car sits today, looks decent enough for now, since it's my daily driver this has to do for now, and yeah i know it has blue side mirrors as i ran out of paint while spraying the bumper but no worries i will be replacing them with pre facelift mirrors as i think they look a million times better.

And the main reason for the tow hook install, i own a dirt bike so i have to be able too lug it around
