Hey there,
So finally got around to a build thread on my Daihatsu Hijet. I am back home and truck is super good... went on a drive last night and a meet today.
So far, under my ownership, got bedliner, new matte white paint (which I already need to fix some nicks here and there) and a new engine. I was hoping for a hayabusa swap down the road, but during a cruise a few months ago the engine gave out after having to suddenly stop and I just ended up getting a new stock 660cc EF engine. I got the old engine back, which I will later pull apart and rebuild... maybe with a turbo or bored out, or both.
Like I put in my intro thread, I have fender flares from Hello Special I still need to put on. I might get to starting those these next coming weeks. Then possibly bagging it. This is going to be a slow build, so it wont have fast updates. But will be cool once things have gotten going.
On to pictures! Not sure how to make them small, so instead of goofy large, I will just have the links. Hope you guys see them fine.
First bought.
Months later the repaint. Ended up having a shop do it, they also rhinolined the interior.
I accidently did it all backwards... but after that it was the bed rhinolined. It is bubbling here are there now... but it was not sanded down as much. So I failed on that. But I'll worry about fixing all that down the road. I also had just got the fender flares so I had taped them on and was fitting them. The sides were still getting done then.
This was when I was having a shop change the engine... I'd do it, but the engine is removed from the bottom and my garage has no lift or room to do it. Engine even fits in the passenger seat.
And... how it sits.
I am into the scootering life too... as you saw from the pictures before this. I found a new use for my scooter's stock mirrors. My latest upgrade of just yesterday.
Hope you enjoyed this and more to come. Too bad about the pictures but I guess link heavy will load faster then picture heavy lol.
