    • Er, "notching" a frame does not consist of of taking a cutting wheel to your frame and then not reinforcing or welding anything up.

I would do it properly if I were you, but neither of those are my car so I don't have to worry about it haha.

i know it isnt pretty but it does the job, i did all of this with the coilover in. had i taken it out which i will be doing soon i could either cut those pieces off or bend them up farther
You should really weld up your cuts at the very least. All you've done there is make a weak spot in your frame.

Ah alright. I may hold off until i have access to a welder then. It would probably be the best idea.

Coilovers should be here sometime today. If they show up before 5PM i'll probably be putting them on. If not, i'll put em on tomorrow morning.

Eh probably not until i have a welder so i don't weaken my frame. Hell, when i do get a welder though i'm gonna work on cutting out all the rust. All of it. I'll do my best turbo yoda and teach myself to weld.

              • Getting out the rust would be a good idea....but damaging your frame wouldnt be. Besides coilovers will probably get u as low as u need with out any problems.

i plan to actually notch then weld it up but what ive done here dosnt affect integrity to much. this just a small lip that hangs off the actual frame itself.

That lip does actually add some rigidity to the frame to a certain extent, but as long as you plan on a proper notch sometime soon I'm sure it won't result in anything catastrophic. Not at all trying to be a prick, just speaking from experience. I've notched a lot of cars over the years. I'd **** to see someone get hurt or irreparable damage done to a nice car.

Even just like a little square cut out you think you should weld back up? My axle comes close and I've heard it hit before, and I can see the marks on the axle, so I just don't want to have to worry about it.

Yeah that's what i'm thinking. Probably won't notch it until i bag it.

                            • Any structural cutting/notching will require reinforcement. It would leave you vulnerable in result of a crash, it may not seem like a big deal when you're doing it but say you cut a little bit out of a soda can and crushed it, it would collapse a lot differently than a soda can without a cut in it
