  • **M Kube Build Journal: '00 E38 740iL**

    Hey Stanceworks,

With the W124 nearing completion I figured it was time to make room for another project that I've always talked about with my peers. I have a 740iL on its way from Palm Desert this coming Monday. The parts pile has already started and am hoping to get her grounded on the Rotiform LVS' by Bimmerfest which is coming up in 2 weeks.

I plan on keeping the build relatively simple since it will also be a daily. Alpina rep lip and airlift e39 struts should be in by next week, will update this thread as much as I can once I have possession of the car.

Here's a shot of my w124 in its current state. Nothing much, but she's got 230k and counting.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-On to actual pictures I grabbed from the dealer's website!!!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    - Picked up the car and within minutes of getting her, the clear lenses were on. Also proceeded to cleaning up the headlights and paint. I also removed the inner plastic lenses of the headlights to give it an updated look with out having to look at the sore yellow lenses. Within 72hrs, the car was tinted with 35% to keep it somewhat classy.

-Airlift e39 struts arrived yesterday along with the v2autopilot management, going with a single 444c Viair compressor for now.

Given how your S124 has turned out, I fully anticipate this being awesome.

Thanks man!! Hows yours running and ride quality for daily use? Need to change up my brackets soon, not liking the way the bag settles when she's aired out.

Pleased as punch with it. Needs stiffer shocks at some point, but I'll wait for my stocks to give up the ghost.

Yeah, brackets are a biznatch on these. Still not 110% happy with mine, but they'll do. As expensive as these coilover bag setups are, I'm pretty jealous of all these cars that just have a bolt-on option and don't have to spend three months worth of weekends tweaking brackets just so.

For what it's worth, you might think about a second compressor. A big heavy 7-series on those narrow air struts is going to require very high bag pressures, which means a large tank, which means you're going to be listening to that compressor run until the end of days.
