  • Jason's Lexus LS400

    Hey all. Greetings from Lithuania.

Long time has passed since I visited this SW forum, so by that time I had bought wonderful car which gave me so much positive feelings to Japans car engineering. Because I'm huge fan of BMW's. The Lexus are now my second favorite car brand. I bought it accidentlly just by going with my friend to car sales lot to search the new car for him to buy. And then we spotted this LS400 just standing here in the far end of the car lot. It was all covered in moss and rear fenders had some rust because the inner fender plastic guards were gone. But overall condition was very good for a 96's car. It was repainted earlier but not very well. The color was faded. The car was brought there from Netherlands. The owner was a doctor who had his private driver to drive him in this car. Back then I didnt knew very much about VIP and Luxury culture. But I saw much potential in this body. So then i decided to buy it. Oh and bought it very cheap bcs the seller didnt knew the worth of this car .

So here are some pictures from my build and first ever VIP looking car in my garage.

Thats how it looked when I found it.

Fixed the rusted rear fenders and repainted them. Fitted sime R18 wheels with good winter tires to pass cold winter days with this car. Also played a bit with stock air suspension. That how it looked fully aired out.

That was the height I did to ride in winter.

Then the spring came and i fitted some other R18's on it and tinted all windows.( not the front )

I was searching for some proper wheels to fit this car but it was hard to find a long time. Then these RS Futura R20's came up to my attention. And I bought them for very cheap price bcs they needed full refurbishment. The wheels were R20x8.5J ET20 & 10J ET15 5x120.

The lips were made of chrome so thats how it looked after I got my hands on one of them.

Then i decided to repaint the whole car into genuine color it had.

    After paint booth.

Allso did a debadge. Did some modifications to the rear lights. Replaced orange corners to red ones and made them look glossy.

    Test fit for R20's.

Had a bit of challange of rolling front fenders bcs the metal was very thin and wobble.

Then decided to finish what I started with wheels. Polished lips and machine brushed the surface of inners to look more similar to diamond cut, bcs there is no one in my country whos doing it. After that clearcoated them.

Mounted 255/35 on rear and 235/35 on front.

Played a bit with original air suspension and it looked like this in the end.

So in the end was worth every minute in it of my time. Havent got even time for proper photo shooting when I sold it

Looking forward to build something similar but with good air suspension and more VIP looking style in the future. Thank you for your scrolling

Looking good! Surprised these had air suspension from way back when. How are you adjusting the ride height?
LS400 are coming up, perhaps I should buy one while they're all around $5k.

This is awesome! I just picked up a 93 and starting the build. How are you modifying the factory air?

There are height sensors on suspension arms taht has those sticks that conects sensor to the arm. I just cut to shorten them. You need to mesure first what is stock and then decide how much you want to cut. I can tell you later how much have i cut. Because I've cuted them like 3 times to get that perfect height for me. Also each stick was with different length so you have to cut each one the same amount. Or you can try to find new ones on web to order. Because mine were very rusted and was hard to unscrew the ends. But I managed with patience

This is aftermarket stick. Dont know how to call it properly

Also i heard there is a safety fuse that you should get rid off when you have adjusted your car height. Try searching web for witch fuse. If you have other questions just ask.

And here was the video that i got inspired off. The neighbor from Estonia.
