  • The Prom Queens build

Well this car turned into more than I intended to do with it. So I'll make a thread on here for it.

My wife always wanted a cabby, and so did I kinda. I put my motorcycle up for trade on craigslist last year... My bike was running driving etc... I got a response for a guy who had a cabby but it hadn't moved in many years.

I already have a few bikes... Four aren't in this picture

So we decided to trade, my wife wanted it, this guy was starting to ruin it, and I saw it had potential.

Here she is in all her originally glory.

She had 47,000 original miles on her, and was taken apart by this guy... He said the exhaust manifold was cracked... Tried to change it, and he failed miserably... Broke a few studs in the head etc. For me no big deal. I swapped a clean head, timing belt, waterpump etc in a few hours. Turns out it didn't need a new exhaust manifold, only a donut gasket between the manifold and the down pipe

After I got it running and driving I started going to town on her.

    Degrease and clean

    First pass with the rotary

You can see another one of my bikes in this picture lol.

Cleaned and I put all the trim etc back together.... Flares everything this guy took apart.

I dailyed this thing like this all of Summer 2014.

Well it's 2015...I've been gathering parts for this car

Wife went out... I brought the wheels into the house, and we started taking them apart

I didn't like the finish that was on them so I sandblasted the faces.

    Masked them carefully.

Half assembled a two wheels to start test fitting them.

Kinda hard to picture without the coilovers on , but this was mostly for width purpose. The barrels in the front are going to be swapped for larger on the inside. The wheels are pretty aggressive at ET 0. There's enough room to mill them, however I don't feel it's necessary at this point to do that.

Shortened + reinforced oil pan & Pump be designed by http://www.tech-53.com/

I have most of the parts, but waiting on the extended upper strut mounts & poly rears.

Found these from September on my phone.

    Last weekend

So coming up is new axles, wheel bearings all around, brakes etc, coilovers, shortened + reinforced oil pan & pump, camber plates , new g grind cam and exhaust. The car runs and drives perfectly, so no need for a motor swap. This will just be a slow and low fun summer car.

That looks incredible! Beautiful paint on her, just needed a bit of elbow grease.

I cut the purple cleaner with 50/50 water out of a spray bottle. It's very strong if it's not diluted After I cleaned it, I then began polishing with a rotary, after I cut and polished with a rotary. I switched to my DA polisher, applied another coat of glaze and sealant. Then used a cleaner wax. If you want exact products I can tell you exactly what product and pad I used.

The gold is from the PPG Vibrance collection called Gold Rush, it's an expensive candy custom color similar to house of kolors..

This color changes dramatically depending on the light conditions and the angle/flop it's in. You can also make it more candy by how many top coats of the candy you apply. I only did one coat of the candy, because two or three changed it to more of a copper / gold transparent. I liked it better this way.

I recently discovered this rare flare kit from VWMS... I'm trying to locate a kit badly! I fell in love. The kit is just flares, not that ugly front grille.

I agree, and I kind of like it because it's super aggressive.

                              Thanks guys

Done with the dry fitting, on to the real assembling of the wheels.

Polished the rear lips, and cut out my o-rings for the faces.

I had a helper help me torque the wheels.

So at least the wheels are assembled, all I really had time to do this weekend. I had a wedding Saturday.
