  • I Have No Idea What I'm Doing. E21 Content.

So I bought my first "project" car which I know I payed too much for. 1983 BMW E21 320i with roughly 90,000 miles which im having seconds thoughts that it is not the original mileage... Anyway it's in pretty decent shape but its going to need quiet a bit of work. Guess thats the point of a project car eh? She does run but its hard to start and when you drive it its sluggish as hell and doesn't go over 45mph. I'm guessing its fuel related but im no car mechanic. Prepare for a lot of crappy pictures...

Update: What was once originally a Miami Florida car now sits in my barn in Pennsylvania and things have escalated quickly. All of this shit is new to me and I'm trying to learn as I go. Hopefully it runs again one day. Stay tuned...

After my move from Georgia to Pennsylvania I decided it was time to really get the project started. First step. Remove engine.

                E21disaster

Start dealing with the wire harness. I labeled a lot of stuff

                E21disaster

                E21disaster

Fuse box is going in the glove box so everything needs to be unplugged. What a rats nest.

                E21disaster

I pushed the harness through the firewall. Time to start cutting shit.

                More updates coming soon

This looks like a fun pain in the ass. Also if you don't mind me asking where in PA are you? I'm just wondering because I'm in the Lehigh Valley area, if you were local that would be cool to maybe see you around.

Due to my budget I just plan to rebuild the M10 engine. It costs a lot of money to get power out of these engines and I just cant afford to do a M20 swap at the moment but maybe sometime in the future.

                            Little update

                            Snip snip

                            E21disaster

                            E21disaster

This part of the harness is complete and wrapped up. Extended about 2 feet to reach its new home.

                            E21disaster

Ran the hardness through to the passanger side and reconnected all the shit to the fuse box. The wires at the bottom are next to be delt with. They will be going through the the inner fender up to the front bumper. (they connect to the headlights, blinkers, radiator, etc.

Fuse box temp mounted in its new location. Working on the wires that will run through the passenger side fender.

                              E21disaster

                              Drilled an entrance hole.

                              E21disaster

and another hole up front where the headlight goes.

                              E21disaster

                              bam.

                              E21disaster

So that harness is pretty much complete. I have to switch a few plugs around in the fuse box since that blinkers are now backwards since the harness is routed on the passenger side and not the driver side anymore. But worry about that later. Next is cleaning up this mess.

                              Removed some stuff

                              E21disaster

Little bit more work to do with this but definitely made good progress. I suppose the next step would be to weld these holes.. If only I had a welder and knew how to weld
