I'm Dave! The name Dutch ended up becoming a nickname I gained from a few friends. I burnt out 4 clutches on my old RS50 in 3 months and gained the nickname Clutch, which became Dutch when I got into old Dubs and BMW's and started attempting to learn German
.
I've been on here for years and never actually got round to posting the progression of my Rocco... Main reason being I lost all funds, got into a bit of debt, had a psycho ex try and stab me, got fucked over by someone I considered close that drained all money and broke my stuff and all motivation just disappeared as I felt everything going down the shitter.
But! Enough of the depressing shit! Life is a 10 right now! Well... Maybe a solid 7... I'm not a millionaire you see...
So, may aswell start this thread before my girlfriend (not a psycho this time
) pops out our Satan spawn and I never get onto here or have time! But enough of the life story this is a build thread!
Erhem.. I got the Rocco on Halloween 2011! It was completely standard other than a nice sounding straight through stainless Miltek. It was a 1.8 8v carbed GT engine as was standard in the GT2 model Sciroccos. It was an extremely fresh example even considering it had spent its whole life on the Isle of Skye (just off the Scottish west coast for those of you not overly familiar with britain
) I got it from a guy a few miles from my parents home on the Northeast coast.
The instant I saw it I knew I needed it. So without hesitation, got in touch with the guy (now a friend of mine) and asked if he wanted my old beat up mk1 Caddy I had for his Scirocco. I test drove the Scirocco and was instantly in love! So we swapped documents and I went to drive it home!
Now, he had told me that the car cut out from time to time, and when driving home, lowe and behold, it cut out... I'll get to more on that later though.
So, driving it for a few months, it developed a massive bottom end knock and died in the space of half a mile... The crank and shells were goners. Yay... So, rebuilt it, secondhand crank, new bearings, new gasket set all over lapped in valves etc. got it running. But before it went back on the road it got lows
I also cleaned out the fuel tank as that was why it kept cutting out. Crap in the tank!
Another few months passed and then about 1/4 a mile from my parents house the oil warning came on and then the car lost all power, so I nursed it that last little bit, got it up on ramps, drained the oil, whipped off the sump, and checked the bearing caps... Cylinder one had spun a shell. Fucking yay.
At this point I'd had enough and thought "fuck it". It was then I sourced a 16v KR engine and have been doing it up properly since with intentions of supercharging it. So, if you've bothered to read this far without falling asleep CONGRATULATIONS!
How I got it!

After lows

The bay

Where it sat for a while...

Aaaaand for good measure

This was around the time shit started going bad and then for the last aaage, it's just sat gathering dust and mould :'( but, I have a new found motivation, and currently have a garage at the house my girlfriend and I are renting, so work will soon commence again as it's going in the garage once my Audi back windows been resealed!
Can't wait! Actually really excited!
I have the idea of how I want it to look in my head. I just need to get it to that stage! So, hopefully, it's getting going again! Wouldn't mind it going by the end of August for Edtion 38 as that was the initial plan for 2013 Edition before shit went down. Cheers for reading
